Conklin, NY is a small town and rural farm area in upstate New York that sits on top of the Marcellus Shale formation. It is one of the areas in New York State that is of interest to natural gas companies, who would introduce hydrofracking to the area, an industry drilling technique that is new and unregulated. New York State is in the process of investigating the science behind it, and the dangers of hydrofracking. Carcinogens and neurotoxins are introduced into the land and air during the process of hydrofracking. If it is eventually allowed, each individual town can decide whether or not to allow it.
