Over 100,000 people are in the Hong Kong network on Facebook and currently, there are over 360 members in the newly created "Anson Chan for Hong Kong!" group. There are also many other social and political action groups on Facebook.
Here are the reasons why you should get a Facebook account:
(1) Virtually all of the \'08 Presidential candidates in the US have their own Facebook groups. Their online campaigns have been the centerpiece of their election strategies and have attracted much media attention.
(2) So far, no politician in Hong Kong has a Facebook account. Online campaigning hasn\'t been something that\'s been as influential in Hong Kong as it has been in many countries. We also believe that your campaign should utilize the internet and try to reach out to more people.
(3) People from all walks of life use Facebook to connect with other people. Politicians in the US have used Facebook to directly answer their supporter\'s questions and responded to their concerns. Because of the sheer accessibility of Facebook, it can be used to reach an incredible amount of people, instantaneously.
(4) As a majority of the users on Facebook are teens and young adults, by using Facebbok, your campaign will be able to reach out to these groups more effectively than any other campaign.
