To whom it may concern: 14 years ago, the very first book in the Animorphs series was published. At the time, no one expected it to become what it grew into. An off-beat idea about kids turning into animals morphed into a 64 book series about an intergalactic war for the sake of all free species in the known galaxy. What started as a few books for young readers, became a deep and multi-faceted exploration of meaningful concepts that many adults never bother to really think about. The morality of self-defense, the right to harm others in order to survive, the true meaning of freedom, the many shades of grey that color all decision making - these are just a few of the many themes repeated throughout the series. Many children have read these books, and many have been fundamentally altered because of it. In 2001, the series concluded. The war was over, the battle finished. There were still final lessons to be learned, ones that deeply affected those who were exposed to them. But the very end of the series was not a true end - it was only another beginning, as endings tend to be. There are many more stories to be told, and still more lessons to be learned. In the nine years since the series ended, uncounted fans have continued the story for themselves and for others. Even after nearly a decade, fans still remain - many of them. New readers discover the series each and every day, in all parts of the world. From the cities of India to the islands of Jamaica to the streets of Israel, the remote regions of Russia, and of course, all over America, people discover and rediscover the unique magic of the Animorphs all the time. Some of us grew up with the series from childhood, growing and changing with the characters in the story. They are lifelong friends who will will always be a part of us. Some of us are new fans, only just now coming to see the magnificence of these books. Some of us are parents, who have just found something new to inspire our children - and ourselves. We are all as different as it is possible to be. Animorphs has spanned the entire globe, reaching people as diverse as it is possible to be. The bonds of nationality, gender, religion, political orientation, socio-economic class, and - least of all - age do nothing to diminish the appeal that this series has to many. We are as different as it is possible to be, but we still love these books. Nearly ten years since the series has ended, we still love it perhaps more than ever. And we still want more. The stories are not yet all told, the lessons not yet learned. You have it in your power to continue telling the stories, to introduce and reintroduce the whole world to the Animorphs and their universe. And, with as much enthusiasm as is possible, we the undersigned wish for you to do so. Please, allow the authors to write more books to continue the stories that still fascinate and enthrall us. Pick up the series yet again and we can promise you that it will be more popular than ever before.
