Comments: We have 2 cats and I would never have either of them declawed. They are easily "trained" to scratching posts and I clip their claws regularly. Start this young so they get used to it ;)

Comments: I use a small nail clipper that us usaluly for human nails it does a great job and I find it easier to see where you are clipping with them. And if you can start them early enough they just get used to it. And of course treats after usaluly make them more tolerant the next time (or the next time it might take a while for them to get the idea that trimming = treats).

Comments: I hope you will stop routinely declawing all kittens being placed for adoption at Animart. Please be aware that many cat guardians refuse to declaw for all of the reasons cited above. I am strongly opposed to declawing and cannot shop at Animart as long as you continue to routinely declaw all cats and kittens in your care. It is tragic for all cats who suffer so much pain from being declawed and then end up at shelters, where many will die, because of litter box avoidance.

Comments: There's no need to declaw cats - a cat that has access to appropriate scratching surfaces will not scratch furniture. Declawing is amputation and they use their claws like we use our fingers.

Comments: Cannot shop at a place that is party to declawing, by now we KNOW through the very science that gave us declawing, that it's a really bad idea. Study after study shows this, so there is no excuse for continuing a outdated flawed and frankly dangerous "practice" that still has too many terrible results that get swept under the rug by vets who simply turn a blind eye and continue doing it. Given the chance, they choose not for the welfare of the animal, for who declawing has been proven to NOT keep them in homes.

Comments: "Stoicism may be cats’ greatest enemy in the declaw debate. Nobody declaws dogs—in vet school we were told that it’s too painful. Dogs whine, scream and howl; their pain is easy to recognize. But cats are quiet, and they characteristically endure pain without complaint." Unfortunately, the vast majority of people - including vets - view cats exhibitions of pain, from these amputations - holding up paws, biting, urinating and defecating outside of the litter box, irritability, avoidance of people, hiding, fighting with other animals in the home and etc - as "behavior problems" rather than what they really are - signs of extreme, constant, life-long pain and trauma. People also do not see the changes in their declawed cat's physiology that results in arthritis or the sharp ends of their amputated toe bones that are jabbing into, or actually growing, into their pads. Tens of thousands of declawed cats are abused, thrown into the streets to fend for themselves, and killed in shelters every year due to these perceived “behavioral” issues resulting from declaw. This horrific treatment of innocent, defenseless animals is unconscionable, horrendously abusive, completely immoral and needs to be put an end to immediately. PLEASE, stop visiting this life-long torment upon the defenseless cats and kittens in your care.

Comments: Cats need their claws. Declawing is unnecessary and cruel. With all the excellent alternatives available there is no need to declaw cats. It must be banned in the USA as it is in over 37 countries around the world as it is considered cruelty to animals.
