Comments: I personally have had a bad experience with this shelter, I lost a young (1.5 yr old) male Tabby "Buddy" to Panleukopenia a week after I rescued him from this shelter. If the conditions at the shelter would have been more sanitary and if Buddy was vaccinated when he arrived there I feel he would be with us today. He died WAY to young from his very SHORT 9 day stay at this facility. Conditions and policies desperately need improving here!

Comments: I have adopted from this shelter & the conditions, care of the animals, and the reasons to put an animal down are deplorable. I would love to see the BURLINGTON COUNTY FREEHOLDERS step up to the plate on this for once.

Comments: I know the staff at BCAS pound, at least most of them, try to do the best they can in a thankless and awful job with very limited resources and a high rate of emotional burn-out for those working there that still have feelings left to feel. This facility not only serves Burlington proper put many outlaying muncipalities as well for which it is not equipped to handle the influx of animals from all of these townships due to lack of space...they simply don't have an adequate number of runs or adequate personnel to properly care for the incoming animal population. I also know a plan for a much larger facility has been presented to the burlington freeholders quite a while ago and for the past year or more the Burlington Freeholders have been dragging their feet in doing anything about it although promises for action were made at many open meetings. Strict town and county ordinances must be developed, implemented and enforced to punish those that create this overflow of animals. The owner surrender fees are kept ridiculously low at Burlington pound so that people can dump their animals as though it were a one-stop shop. This was done to cut down on the number of people who would not pay a higher surrender fee and would then dump their animals on the highway or rural fields to rid themselves of them. The only ones that truly suffer here are the animals and if it were not for the intervention of rescue groups, this high kill facility's annual animal kill numbers would be much higher than the current figures, which this township as a whole should be very ashamed of. It is the new millenium......are you, the lawmaking, politcal sector, willing to meet it head on with progressive enlightment or continue to hide behind your political rhetoric which as usual amounts to nothing except serving your own self interest

Comments: as the head of a rescue orginazation that routinely takes animals from Burlington, I can attest to the fact that many animals come to us ill, or soon become sick.
