| 17 | sujata,s.r. | It is really sad that the Goevrnment machinery continues to act in an irresponsible manner by killing dogs. |
| 18 | Jean Bird | There is no room for such cruelty in a civilised society. Stop this disgusting killing of dogs and have compassion. |
| 19 | Diana Hartig | These killings are to be condemned on the grounds of not only being intensely cruel, but also, as has been stated, by being against Indian law.
And they certainly do not solve the underlying problem either.
Dogs will always reproduce as long as they are not sterilised. New generations will be born and killed just as cruelly. And so it goes on and on.
If the intention by the government is just to create longterm-jobs for those doing the killing (and selling the bodies to establishments where they are served as meat .. in some areas) then it will continue, and no efforts are made to change current practice to more humane and lasting alternatives.
If, however, the aim is to lastingly reduce the stray dog population to a healthy number (also by vaccinating against rabies) by humane means then mass killing is definitely the wrong way. Dead bodies need to be disposed of and create yet another environmental and health problem.
And - killing the defenseless is, above all, morally wrong - and not in keeping with the Hindu religion which respects and treasures all life.
Do not let India become a second China !
Rabies is fought - successfully so - in many countries around the world by humane means, like oral rabies vaccination (ORV) (for shy animals than cannot be caught for vaccination, such as some strays) as recommendend by the "WHO Collaborating Centre for Rabies Surveillance and Research", without having to resort to large-scale culls, as the Indian, and Kerala authorities seem to believe as necessary.
As to the costs for such humane measures - obviously the money is there to finance the killing teams, the poison and the disposal of dead bodies. These resources can just as well be used to deal with the problem in a compassionate way - which far more befits a society that is famous for its exceptional and respectful relationship with all life. |

| 30 | Vanessa Weinman | I have had the pleasure of volunteering at the ARK and see and understand the important part they play in controlling the rabies and Dog problem. If only the Trivandrium corporation would read and understand the research that proves that the only way to really control the dog problem is to Sterilize the dogs and vaccinate them (the abc/ar programme) I have witnessed first hand the cruelity of the corporation and those who deem to call themselves educated vets!!!! I commend the efforts that the animal rescue centre but fear they fight an uphill battle. the dogs of kerala are lucky to Avis in their corner. |

| 32 | Vivienne Choudhury | What is happening to stray dogs in Kerala is completely against the law of the land. How can the state be loftily described as "God's Own Country" when such barbaric acts are allowed by the authorities themselves? |
| 33 | Shalini Persson | |
| 34 | Mary Alice Pollard, Cornwall's Voice for Animals.UK | On behalf of our over 4700 supporters world wide - we stand with you in the efforts to make illegal the killing of your dogs there - the program you have started is the ONLY ACCEPTABLE and HUMANE way of dealing with the over population of displaced dogs ( and cats ) - we ask that the laws in place be upheld and those responsible for this illegal and cruel killing be brought to book for their actions. |
