    Comments: It's doing more harm than good when Animal Planet shows cute puppies. Many people don't understand the responsibility involved with dog ownership or realize the number of dogs available in shelters. So many great shows could be produced involving shelters dogs. Shelters/rescues even have puppies.

    Comments: At the very least, Animal Planet needs to discourage people from buying pets through pet stores and let viewers know that those animals usually come from puppy mills. However, Animal Planet's responsibilities should definitely include shows on pets who have been adopted through rescues and shelters. Animal Planet plays an important part in people's television viewing and it could play a major role in preventing purchases of a new pet from inappropriate places.
