If we make the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday Nationwide we take away the commercial applications that roll into fanfare to envision time off work at work and the Millions of people throwing $2 each way on the pink silks $2 each way on the fav and $2 each way on the Omen bet that resembles the kids names the BF or the favourite birthday numbers that missed in the lotto the week before and don’t forget $2 each way on the leading jock and a fiver on one of outsiders jumping from the inside barrier. The game day preparations that evoke the lead up to the Cup is a sacred thing the truth behind the news is that everybody loves the pony's because that is the one time of the year at work the boss is happy to stand side by side with you and not be expecting you to rush the floor for customers or type up the next data sheet before it hits the office floor. You take our office romance away from the Melbourne Cup you take away our Melbourne Cup the RDO's the sick day to catch up at your local picnic race day meet is a given for all our race lovers and there plus 1’s but the Cup is the working mans Christmas the time when equality is race 1-5 where the rest is up to the parade ring as all eyes end up trackside on our famous turf at Flemington the race that stops a nation for 15 minutes of spring dresses, suits for hoops and champagne fame The race that stops a nation at work for work and because of work the dance that plays our heart to only be apart of the game day Quinella, Tri or Quaddie hoping for the office sweep and the first four as a kicker, constant smiles for two miles and the fist full of the tickets the cheers and jeers coming round the turn and the minutes of the stewards.
