The Angelika Film Center in downtown Houston was suddenly closed on August 30, 2010 due to a lease disagreement with Bayou Place Limited Partnership. The partnership, which manages the downtown Bayou Place, terminated the center's month-to-month lease.
Angelika is an important local resource for independent cinema, and has become a Houston landmark.
We do NOT want to see the Angelika Film Center closed.
It is important that Houston support a downtown cultural arts center like Angelika.
We urge Angelika and Bayou Place LP (Baltimore based Cordish Co. www.cordish.com) to reach terms that will permit this important cultural business to remain operational, so that Houstonians may continue to enjoy independent cinema in a central downtown location.
