Name: David Levy on May 29, 2007Comments: It is tragic that President Armstrong is so threatened by the more liberal views of former CCU Professor Andrew Paquin that he go so far as to terminate the professor's employment at CCU. President Armstrong, I am afraid that you are destroying the school. You are so caught up with your fundamentalism that you fail to recognize that many of the best and brightest at CCU, in terms of both students and faculty will be forced to leave since you allow them no safe harbor. If the school becomes another Bob Jones University or Biola, it is solely your fault.Flag

Between mccormick and armstrong there is so much manipulation and unchristian activity in the leadership that it disgusts me. This isnt the first case, as my stepfather Prof Dwight Podgurski was terminated for "saying somethign out of line" in a meeting, when in fact that is not even close to the real reason. stop the fascismFlag

Name: Rebekah J. Spencer on May 29, 2007Comments: Professor Andrew Paquin was not only the source of revival to the global studies department, he was a man who pushed me in my thinking, challenged my academic abilities, and spent time learning about my life so that he could better assist me and help me to reach my goals. He was one of very few professors at CCU who stretched my academic abilities in a way that made me want to learn more about the topic at hand and about Christ. He loves his students and he loves Christ.Flag

Name: Amanda Marie Garlow on May 29, 2007Comments: I have never learned more in a class at CCU than in the classes that Professor Paquin taught. I am completely disappointed in the schools choice to do this, and very upset about loosing the one professor who challenged me in a fair, educational, spiritual, and mental way that no other CCU Professor has done. I have been able to learn more through the class I took with Andrew than any other class at CCU, and am truely not looking forward to returning next year to a department that is missing its Life-Blood.Flag

I know of many students who stay at CCU because he is such an incredible professor and he is the reason so many people love the Global Studies department. He should be asked, with great apology, to come back to CCU.Flag

Name: Skylar DeVos on May 30, 2007Comments: Since the start of his employment at CCU, I have heard only the best about Professor Paquin. He is respected by his peers and his students, and he challenges his students to become more aware of the world around them and to become more engaged in it. His involvement in 10/10 and other projects has brought a much-needed spark to the campus, and he continues to work to improve the school and the world around him. On a broader scale, this only adds to my deep concern about CCU's habit of firing much-loved professors over the summer. It has happened each of the four years I have attended, and each time, it seems that the administration entirely disregards the opinions and desires of the students. Year after year, teachers with all-around low student ratings return to teach, while some of the best and brightest are sent elsewhere. I don't know a single student - and this is not hyperbole - who has not succumbed, by his or her fourth year, to a feeling of disenchantment and disillusion with the school's apparent disconnect with the student body. I have loved all of my professors - I can only hope they will be around for the next class to enjoy.Flag

I can only assume that he either committed a grievous offense against the university or your hiring and firing policies have become so irrevocably asinine as to not appreciate the value of the professors whom you employ. He has helped me, and a large number of other students to consider different perspectives when approaching their Christian faith. His teaching is a necessary component to the University, especially if you wish to continue claiming that you challenge students to grow in their faith.Flag

Though his ideas may be different from some Christians, he strives to show the love of Christ to everyone--on campus and off. I think he is vital to the diversity and integrity of a Christian school.Flag

Name: Charllote Jackson on May 30, 2007Comments: I just transfered to CCU, and I was delighted to have Professor Paquin as my lecturer. It was quite refreshing to actually have an 'American' lecturer that really knows his stuff, yet displaying 'real' Christian values. I cannot say that there has been many who have influenced me in a short time like he has. Especially since I have never quite appreciated or felt connected to previous 'American' lecturers who only seem to understand the North American region. As an international student I have been most appreciative of Professor Paquin's insight.Flag
