This petition is to push government leaders in the Unite States of America into developing stringent felony laws against abuse of government resources, funds and personnel for personal gain. Recent events in national news highlight the ability of government officials to shirk responsibility. We pay them fantastic salaries and fund their travel to help shape foreign policy in the interest of greater good for the American public. Solicitation of prostitution by government employees in foreign lands, wasteful practices and expenditure of government funds for award presentations is an utter waste. To serve our great nation is a privelege. Leaders must ensure that individuals charged and convicted with such abuses not only be held personnally responsible for reimbursement of the waste expended but they also lose all government subsidized entitlements/benefits after removal from service. This should apply to all branches of the US Government. The behavior of a select few have greatly impacted our nation's ability to mantain it's standing among the world populace and have reduced national pride. Spend taxpayer dollars on only those services required to continue successful operations of the government and eliminate travelling conferences and award ceremonies. Teleconferencing, online meetings and email supercede the necessity to collaborate face to face in today's day and age. In summary this petition is for the following: 1. Criminalize uncorrected wasteful practices valued at $499 dollars or more within 45 days of discovery or face up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of $250,000. (Waste is frequently reported however continues unabated for years) 2. Criminalize solicitation of prostitution for government officials/employees travelling abroad. (This supports our government's efforts in eliminating human trafficking.) 3. Place a more stringent business ruleset for individuals travelling for conferences and award ceremonies. Only those events where face to face meetings are necessary for the continuance of government operations are permitted. Otherwise, use the technology our goverment has spent billions on (Video Teleconferencing, Internet Meetings, telephone conferences). Individuals found to abuse this should be held responsible to the government for total reimbursement of per diem and all costs associated with the travel with an additional fine up to $5000. (This will save the taxpayers millions of dollars a year).
