AnonymousAnonymousIt is a continuous struggle to fill vacant case manager positions. A significant reduction in average caseload size and a significant salary increase would result in less turnover and facilitate recruitment of new case managers.

Stanley Seiglerissjr@aol.comCurrent caseloads are counterproductive...make it impossible for a dedicated case mgr to do much more than shuffle paperwork...and little if any time to provide the support intended by the Lanterman Act, the Bill of Rights for people with disABILITIES.

Melanie KilcorseMkilcorse@rceb.orgCase Managers work incessantly to try to serve and meet their consumers needs. This is a daunting and challenging task that seems unlikely to be fufilled unless caseload sizes are reduced via legislation. Case managers are burning out and leaving their positions due to the impractical level of high job demands and not being sufficiently compensated in monetary salary. Social work is not a highly paid profession, because society often tends to underestimate its value. Case workers enter into other job sectors, to experience less work demands, and more money. Dear legislator if you want the community to be served, then changes need to be made. I urge you and encourage you to support the amendment to the Lanterman Act. Thank You. 113 AnonymousAnonymousTo improve this wonderful petition, you could change the spelling of "(making ends meat)" to: "(making ends meet)," which would be the correct spelling in that phrase. Thank you for putting out this petition!
Arthur Eric Sternsternbychoice@gmail.comThis petition understates the point!
Robert Leeperbobleeper@sbcglobal.netPlease consider amending the Lanterman Act. Our family has greatly benefited from the assistance of case managers in obtaining resources to raise our prematurely born daughter. Our society needs more caring people like those employed by the Regional Center of the East Bay, and they are deserving of more pay and a lighter caseload.

Thomas Dohertytldoherty@earthlink.netAll of our professionals in this field must be compensated to the highest possible levels. They represent all the hopes we have for our children to have a future of a useful and happy life. Please make this issue a high priority. Best Regards, Thomas and Rhonda Doherty
AnonymousAnonymousCase managers provide a vital service. Due to complex regulatory requirements and the need to know many other service systems, it can take up to 2 years to train case managers. Often new case managers resign before that point because they can not pay their students loans, keep a car in working order (car is required for CMs)and pay the rent. As a former supervisor, I lost many staff because of the low pay. Entitlement needs to be funded in order to carry out it's mission.

Michael JerebMichaelJ@NBRC.netI have managed the Early Start program at North Bay Regional for the past 8 years. I have had a full for only 6 months during this time. I have had chronic turnover and I believe the reason is high caseloads, lack of clinical support and resources in the community. Many of my case managers have been very competent and dedicated but became discouraged by the inability to meet the needs of their clients. If we go out to a parent's home and assess a developmental delay for their birth to 3 yr old and then have to tell them that they there will a several month delay because we just do not have the resources now....this is very discouraging to all involved.
nick beltran-mcclintocknbmcclintock@rceb.orgI have responded to the above e-mail address. My concerns are numerous, including drastically reducing our caseload numbers. Within Early Intervention, we could be doing a better job with more money (assistance). Thanks
