Name: Rebecca Purcell on Jan 26, 2010Comments: Amen! The Goliath Grouper ban needs to be revoked as well. That is the real cause of the loss of smaller grouper in our waters. If you dive a spot inhabited by a Goliath Grouper, you will quickly notice the lack of smaller fish. The ban has upset the ecological balance, the predator now outnumbers it's prey...it's just a matter of time before the G.G. has to find another food source or perish completely along with his smaller cousins.Flag

Name: Paul Benson on Jan 30, 2010Comments: i have been fishing the key west and dry tortugas as a fishing guide for 20 years, i can tell you that the fishing has gotten better especially for grouper since they banned fish traps and also do to the fact that there is only about twenty percent of the commercial fleet left. i had a charter recently where i ended up catching7 grouper and 4 didnot survive. ifinally caught 2 muttons for my clients. had i been allowed to keep the first 3 grouper for my clients. iwould not have had to kill the other 6. i would not even mind a reduction from 5 grouper to 3 grouper per day but there is no reason to close itFlag
