3 Karen ScottI think it's disgraceful that Amazon let one woman get away with this kind of behaviour for so long, and then turn round and ban the main victim. I'm absolutely disgusted and I wont be buying a thing from Amazon until they show us they give a crap about their 'valued' customers. Asda and Borders will be getting my custom from here on in, until Amazon does something to prevent something like this happening again.
4 AnonymousThis is summed up nicely. Thank you so much!
5 CJ EnglandAs an author and a reader I am appalled that this type of behavior is tolerated by Amazon. It is immoral, unethical and has crossed the line into illegal. Amazon must do something immediately, or risk losing any credibility it may still have.
6 Denise AdamsI have bought books on Amazon by using the reviews. After following this story, and seeing the proof with my own eyes, I am officially boycotting Amazon and HP Publishin

13 AnonymousI stopped posting reviews on Ammie because they seemed so bogus. And now I find out it's a good thing I did. Sign me a long time spend a lot of money at Amazon customer.
14 Erin JohnsDeborah Anne MacGillivray's conduct on Amazon has been both unprofessional and unethical and after reviewing the evidence through saved emails and posts from real authors who have experienced Deborah Anne MacGillivray's wrath through the publishing company Highland Press, I absolutely believe that this is all true. Deborah Anne and her supporters should be punished for scamming the Amazon review system and for unprofessionally lecturing one of her reader's honest opinions about her book. Deborah Anne and her supporters should be severely punished for gathering personal information about this reader (Reba Belle) for the purpose of using it to threaten her. This is disgusting and malicious behaviour and if Amazon chooses to ignore the complaints in this petition, they will not be receiving any more business from an avid reader like me.

16 Linda SedlakI am totally disgusted by what has been, and still is, happening at Amazon. Some authors have been "stacking" the deck in their favor. I know for a fact that this has been going on for a long time. I have purchased books, based on "glowing reviews", to end up wondering if I had purchased the correct book! I now purchase my books based on recommendations from fellow _Romance_ forum_ members at Amazon, and only if I know the people who are recommending the book. Since I began this system, I never have been disappointed in a purchase. What has happened to Reba Belle should never happen to a reviewer. I now know why I have purchased books that were not as advertised. Honest Reviews, by people like Reba, were either removed, deleted, or the reviewer was forced/harassed/threatened into giving a high rating to a less than "stellar" book. Amazon needs to totally revamp it's review system. People are given rewards for "good reviews", members of the "club" receive items to review, items which they keep. Well known reviewers receive books, and God knows what else, to review, all of which they keep. If an author is unhappy with a review, all she/he and their minions have to do is click unhelpful. Voila, The review disappears.

21 AnonymousI am an Amazon customer. This is outrageous. You must change the review system. If I can't trust the reviews, I'll have to buy from someone else.

24 AnonymousThe situation as outlined here is accurate as far as I can tell, but for me the issues regarding Reba Belle and Deborah MacGillivray are more as symptom of the greater problem on Amazon that conveniently buries its head in the sand to the many abuses to its voting, commenting, and ranking system. This system, as it is, encourages the unscrupulous on Amazon to game the system, especially since the chances of getting caught are small, the penalties are few if any, and the profits of succeeding in this gaming outweighs the cons.

41 AnonymousI find the behavior of these authors and reviewers to be contemtible and - in some cases - criminal. Amazon needs to make changes to their reviewing process and hold reviews accountable for their behavior and reviews. These sites rely on us, the consumer, to visit and shop. I will not be doing the latter until this situation has been addressed, these authors and reviewers held accountable, and the reviewing process/policies revised and upheld.
