| 56 | Dorothy | Kelly | TN | US | This battlefield site is important to our national heritage, not just the state of Virginia. The agreement should be honored and this Civil War resource preserved. |
| 57 | Mary Anne | Jackson | WV | US | VDOT will likely be successful. When they
want land, they will take it for some important developer who has probably already petitioned the powers-to-be. Do some in-depth
searching for this. Good luck upon saving part of Virginia's heritage. |

| 59 | Dr. DON | NALL | AR | US | Please, once the land is taken up by development the appearance of the land where blood was spilled by our forefathers will be gone forever! |

| 65 | ERIC | MARTIN | MD | US | VDOT really needs to seriously re-consider the dire implications of reneging on its good faith agreement and understanding back in 1997. To do otherwise is a travesty to not only the citizens of the state but also of the entire nation who deeply care about our Civil War battlefields and heritage. |

| 76 | Jan | Loftis | GA | US | As Vice Chair of the Georgia Civil War Commission, I urge the VDOT to have the integrity to abide by the Memorandum of Agreement signed in 1997 and reaffirmed in 2000 and 2001. The Sesquicentennial of the Civil War will be in 2011; surely the VDOT will not shortsightedly ignore this uniquely American historial milestone by allowing vehicular access through the Aldrich Tract, effectively compromising the viewshed of this costly battle. |
| 77 | John | Lumsden | VA | | We need to preserve American history. |

| 81 | John | Goddard | LA | US | Virginians should be known by the strength of their word! VDOT should not besmirch this ideal and simultaneously aid the destruction of our Civil War heritage by reneging on the MOA. |

| 83 | Steve | Avent | NC | US | The public is best served when VDOT and preservationists can work together. If VDOT does not bargain in good faith, this is impossible, and will in the long run only hurt the public interest. |
| 84 | Todd | Berkoff | VA | US | Save the Alrich Tract!!! NO to the BYPASS!!! |

| 90 | Nicholas | Kurtz | CO | US | I usually make 2 Civil War battlefield trips each year. Last year I loved seeing the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville but I was also amazed at the amount of development there. It was clear then that soon these battlefields could be gone, like Atlanta and Nashville. I know its too late to preserve them like Shiloh or Antietam but that doesn't mean we should pave over whatever currently remains.
As for volunteering I would like to but it would have to be something I could do from Colorado. |
