Comments: We need to save the northern portion of the Alrich tract as it is a critical piece of the Spotsylvania Battlefield. The struggles around Heth's Salient on 12 May 1864 were crucial to the outcome of this bloody battle. I am a Spotsylvania County resident and my ancestors fought across this tract of land with the 37th North Carolina Infantry Regiment. Do not renege on your promise to limit access to this historic piece of America. Richard S. Lee

Comments: Please realize what a by-pass would do to the surrounding land, not just the battlefield. It has been proven that most by-passes in the U.S end up being an additional developed commercial corridor rather than a true by-pass. Please keep the area free from encroachment so that all Americans can benefit from this historic area. Thank you.
