Name: Chandra Wilby Moon on Mar 30, 2007Comments: Alphonse is a wonderful musician and a positive benefit to Bristol's diverse communities. He has never claimed a benefit but lives on his dedicated work and a musician and skilled teacher. He has a fantastic band and has worked for the BBC. He is someone we should be proud to have in our country. This year he's involved with a wonderful show commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery Act and should be here more than ever.Flag

Name: Monica Connell on Mar 30, 2007Comments: I have come across Alphonse in compiling my book 'A Universal Passion' about musicians and dancers who come from all over the world but who now live in Bristol and the South West. Of all the musicians and dancers I have photographed and interviewed Alphonse stands out in my mind as the one who has done more for this community than anyone I know. His loss would be a tragedy for the Bristol area.Flag

Name: Agata Palmer on Mar 30, 2007Comments: Alphonse's work and his committment to his art and his community speak for themselves. It's shocking that the authorities cannot see what a valuable addition to this country he is. We need people like him, who are genuine, capable and self-supporting and obviously extremally talented. What a wonderful role-model for a young boy of any ethnicity!Flag

Name: Derrick Hines on Mar 30, 2007Comments: Having met and played with Alphonse, I know first hand how much he contributes to the community. I really think he should be eligible for citizenship and, at the very least, be able to renew his work permit. The amazing thing to me is how little his immigration troubles have affected his work. Let Alphonse stay!!!!Flag

We should be priveledged to have someone like him live in this country and share his knowledge and skills. I have had the pleasure of being taught by Alphonse and have enjoyed learning about his work in Bristol. I believe the community greatly benefits from having him live here. Name: Anonymous on Mar 30, 2007Comments: As Centre Manager of Oak Meadow Children's Centre in Fareham, I have employed Alphonse on two occasions to run family learning courses for the Centre. He ran two drum workshops for children and their parents. They were well attended and we had excellent reviews from the parents and children. I have also watched the band Hellele which produces excellent music. I think Alphonse contributes a great deal to inter-racial harmony and it would be a great shame if he was unable to stay in this country and continue his work.Flag

Name: Christopher Nicholson Jones on Mar 30, 2007Comments: As a former teacher, musician and father of a member of Helele, I believe that it is most important that Alphonse is permitted to continue to work in Britain. Apart from the continuing pleasure that his work brings to many people, it is vital that music in this country is perpetually stimulated by influences from other cultures. Helele's music is lively, fresh and eclectic; bringing together the cultural development of people from all over the globe, in every bit as important a way as all the governmental legislation concerned with equality and inter-racial relations.Flag

I can honestly say that I have never met a musician who is so focused on his work and in developing UK-African exchanges and an understanding of each others artistic heritage/culture. I have no hesitation in supporting his application for continuing his work in the UK.Flag

He has made a significant impact within the southwests most deprived community. This decision would not just impact upon him but would be to the long-term detriment of the area and wider community.Flag
