To:Senator John McCain, Senator Jeff Flake, Mayor Greg Stanton, Governor Jan Brewer, Representatives from the State of Arizona, and the Arizona State Legislature Veterans for Peace is a nonviolent organization that emphasizes the costs of war, supports the elimination of nuclear weapons, and wants to abolish war as an instrument of national policy. It also aids vets that suffer from PTSD, homelessness, and sexual trauma. Originally, the Department of Veterans Affairs was responsible for the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade, but this year a private group, Honoring Arizona Veterans, has been put in charge. HAV has banned the Veterans for Peace from participating in the parade because of their anti-militaristic message. Hundreds of veterans and Arizonans will boycott the parade if VFP isn’t permitted to participate. Veterans for Peace is composed of men and women who have answered the call of duty and have served their nation honorably. We call for public officials to condemn HAV’s discrimination against pacifistic veterans and pressure the parade into accepting VFP. Monday is Veterans Day. A day for ALL veterans!
