Comments: Have a mass 'picnic in the park' and invite homeless people to join you and share your food. Jesus didn't say: "Homeless people stay away from our recreational areas." This is the story of the loaves and the fishes: Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food." Jesus replied: "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." "We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish," they answered. "Bring them here to me," he said. Jesus directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Comments: The only way this measure would make sense is if there was enough shelter and food in indoor areas for the homeless that chould provide adequate mental and physical care in the city of philadelphia. Since that is not the case how should we meet the needs of the poor? Is there some funding that the public does not know about that is providing a place and food for the homeless on the streets beyond what is already offered?

Comments: This is a really great way to get rid of the 'problem'. This is just a way to clear your streets and parks. These are real people we are talking about. People with addictions and real problems. Don't deter people from helping. That is the last thing we need in this country. They need food. Having to get a permit is ridiculous.

Comments: Many cities have laws similar to this. It is sad as a society to create laws and design public spaces so so to not be conducive to helping our fellow brothers and sisters.

Comments: It is a shame that people like Mayor Nutter is ashamed of the homeless people and want to put them in hiding. Anything anyone can do to help these people would be a great deed in their eyes and in God's eyes.

Comments: Prohibiting this service to this population, that does not only include homeless, but those who are not able to make ends meet, will not eliminate the problem. I am blessed to serve along with many other caring individuals who have gotten to know these all-to-real people, many of whom are not able to mainstream back into society. Serving and caring about people where they are is what we are called to do. I implore you to reconsider this regulation, while the City Council works on plans to help and not hinder this people group or those who truly desire to serve and help our brother and/or sister in need.

Comments: I am absolutely appauled by his decision to attempt to ban people from feeding the homeless population. Why wouldn't we want to send the message to help those less fortunate? We need to ban together to assist people who aren't as blessed as we are in any way possible. I hope he doesn't get re-elected because this politican official is a hazard to society.
