In the March 2013 edition of Cosmopolitan Magazine Benita Veliz, an illegal immigrant and the daughter of illegal immigrants, was named the "New All American Girl." We, the undersigned, demand that Joanna Coles, editor-in-chief, and Hearst Corporation, retract this designation from Benita Veliz and instead appoint a more appropriate "All American Girl" to be named. In a country full of legal immigrants it is an insult and an affront that they and their daughters should be ignored while those who have committed an illegal act are promoted and rewarded. We, as Americans, do not hold up burglars, thieves and other law-breakers as positive role models in our society, nor should we do so with those who have willfully and proudly broken our immigration laws by illegally crossing our borders.
