As a single working parent, I have fought my local county child support division tooth and nail in an effort to successfully collect the obligation rightfully due my children. I believe this is due my not being a recipient of State Aid in any form. Many other recipients of child support find the same situation. Phone calls and emails go unanswered and unacknowledged sometimes for weeks, sometimes permanently. I have been battling the child support administration in my county for nine years. I've been through at least a dozen different case workers, once worse than the other. I realize they are attempting to collect monies in an effort to reimburse state aid programs but that does not make my children any less important or yours. It's time we as residential parents come together as one and demand to as high up as our President, something be done. Change the program. Hire more workers! Here is an idea on how to increase jobs. The child support division should be divided into two areas. Those case workers who collect as a means to reimburse the state aid programs and those who collect for individuals not receiving state aid. Let's make it mandatory that your case worker introduce himself/herself to you upon takeover of your account. Let's make it mandatory that responses are required within 48 hours. Can you think of any other changes that should be made? Sign this petition and we'll go to the highest level possible with our demands!
