Comments: Come on Horsham District Council. We have a statue of a swan, a donkey and a huge fountain. It is about time we had something to commemorate the legendary Alf Shrubb.

Comments: For 10 years (1901 till 1911) Shrubb was the finest distance runner in the world (not just Horsham or Sussex), so recognition in the form of a statue in his home town would be well deserved.

Comments: Alfie Shrubb was arguably the best runner of all time. He lived in a town 20 kms east of me here in Canada called Bowmanville. He is a hero in these parts and there is an annual 8K run in his honour.

Comments: Very little is known of Alfred by Horshams residents, and this would be a fitting tribute to one of the worlds greatest athletes. I have the origonal photo of Alfred outside the Bedford with the horse and supporters.

Comments: How exciting! It is great to have Alf Shrubb honored in England like this. In Canada we hold a race each year called the Alfie Shrubb 8K Classic, this year it was our 7th year. We also have what we think a very good web site. Have you checked out www.alfieshrubb.ca

Comments: The Alfie Shrubb 8K Classic Race in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada has made Alfie Shrubb a house hold name in our running community here in Southern Ontario. A statue in his home town of Horsham would be a great tribute to such an AWESOME athlete.
