We are urging Horsham District Council to build a lasting memorial to World Champion runner Alfie Shrubb who lived in Horsham and once raced a horse.
He was hailed as 'the Greatest Runner the World had ever seen' back in the 1900s and held a host of world records.
In Canada, where he lived toward the end of his eventful life, Shrubb is hailed a hero.
In Horsham, most people have never heard of him.
We think it is about time this changed and want a statue put up in the town centre.
