To the Arsenal Board of Directors, As a fan base we understand that the club is put under many financial strains and although mentioned on numerous occasions by Mr Alisher Usmanov and Mr Ivan Gazidis that the club has substantial funding available for transfers, I and others who have signed this petition agree that the one thing that annoys us most as a fan base is the sale of our best players. Most notably, the likes of Fabregas, Nasri and Van Persie have all departed within the last 2 seasons, rendering us trophyless and branded a ‘feeder club’ to the likes of Manchester City who within 4 season of new ownership have invested a substantial amount of money into quality players and claiming the Premier League title. I and many other fans believe that not only are we admired all of over the world because of our football, but also the way we go about doing our business financially. Year in year out, we produce large profits, whilst many other clubs match this profit in debt, year in year out we produce exceptional talent who are then sold on to other clubs where they become some of the best players in Europe. Furthermore as fans we hear rumours week in week out, that Arsenal as a club are being linked with quality players and that we miss out on these players due our tight financial constraints and lack of budget. But what hurts us even more than missing out on these players, is the fact that many of these players thought of Arsenal as their preferred choice and these players have now moved on and become quality players for their respectable clubs. Putting all of the above aside, this petition has been constructed in order to re-sign a player who was pivotal in our top four finish and therefore qualification for Champions League football last season. A player who came out and said that he loved this club and that it was never his intention to leave but was ‘forced out’ of the club. The footballer in question is Alexandre Song. He was a player that provided us with defensive cover, attacking threat and phenomenal link up play with his team mates, a player that gave 110% week in week out, a player who was deemed one of the best defensive midfielders not only in the premier league but also in Europe. He was a player who was at a tender of age of just 24 when he left us for Barcelona. He was a talent that had so much more to offer us as a club and the potential to do so is still there. At Barcelona, Song will be a wasted talent. If rumours are to be believed and the transfer fee of £15million is to be believed then the re-signing of Song could be a shrewd acquisition. Once more if rumours are to be believed, then this means that Song could be available for around £12.7million meaning that the re-signing of the player would benefit the club by £2.3million for effectively loaning a player out for a single season. He is a player who would be welcomed back with open arms, and a player who could help solve the defensive frailties that have cost us so dearly this season and also provide us with that little bit of lacking flare that we have lacked since the departure of himself and Van Persie. Furthermore, as a fan base, we feel that we should have a say in the transfers into and out of the club.
