We the undersigned ask that the recent increase in tax on premixed drinks, Alcopops, by the Austrailian Federal government be removed. We believe that the tax increase was implemented with all good intentions but without adequate investigation. It punishes all for the misuse of these drinks by a minority. The issue of binge drinking by young people will not be solved by increasing the cost of the drink, as it will merely result in those involved changing their method of intoxication, possibly resulting in increased social and personal health problems.

I am a 42 year old Father of three who is fed up with the governments consistent \"knee jerk\" reactions to problems. Once again they are punishing everyone for the bad behaviour of a minority instead of going after the root cause of the problem. Now I can\'t afford the last little luxury that I occasionally treated myself to, a carton of Bourbon and Cola. I can\'t justify paying the extra $25 that the tax has added to the carton. So it\'s back to mixing it myself unless people power can sway the Wine drinking Politicians.
