Ariane PaulSafety is very important to me and that is why I am a CERT team member (previously on NERT in San Francisco also). There were many fires in my old neighborhood in SF, some caused by arson, some caused by accidents or gas explosions. Also, friends of mine in Alameda suffered a devastating loss when their home burned up a few years ago. The City of Alameda should work hard to keep the Fire Dept. well staffed at least at its current levels. Thank you.

AnonymousThis email is to express my opposition to the proposed cuts for fire services
Bill WrigleyThe city of Alameda should not reduce the safety of its citizens. Reducing the Fire Dept. in any way will endanger everyone. Bill Wrigley
AnonymousPlease don't limit the services of the City of Alameda Fire Department by closing any of its companies; all are essential for the safety of Alameda's neighborhoods and citizens.

Greg CroweDo not jeopardize the safety of our citizens. Do not close our local fire companies.
adrienne leesave them!
Mark ChanDo not take away our firefighters, there are many areas of spending which can and should be sacrificed before my health, safety, and peace of mind. Firefighters of Alameda are critical for the well being of my city and its citizens. I beg you to look into other areas of need before we take away a vital piece of equipment and personnel in a day and age where disaster can strike at anytime.
Fred W. BlasPublic Safety is the primary responsibility of government. We all know that the Hayward fault is the most dangerous in urban America and that it could slip at any time. Please find a way to meet budget needs without reducing the number of Public Safety professionals on duty. Thank you. Fred Blas

Stacy MeynPlease no cuts--we can find other ways to help the budget. The earthquake after the budget meeting should be enough of a reminder how important it is that we support our emergency services.
Mitra SalahifarWe all support the Fire Department ! Please do not our Local Fire departments at any time. We need them, it is our lives you are deciding about !

Kavenaugh M. CarneyLet us work with a collective conscious to keep our firestations and disaster protection at a level that meets the needs of our growing community. Alameda has level or pride, Let our voices be heard. Kavenaugh M. Carney
Belinda Van BuhlerThere are too many old homes in Alameda that in a moments notice could go up in flames. My grandfather, Ernest Boucher was a firefighter in Alameda so I have supported the firefighter for years.

MURIEL D. MONTAGUEAs a CERT Team member for the City of Alameda, I know that it will not be in our city's best interest to negatively impact our Fire Department as suggested. Every effort must be made to keep our Emergency Services i.e. Fire Department intact.

Pamela EiselmanFirefighting is not an optional activity and our city funding for it should not be optional, either. Please support our firefighters request for funding.

Christopher MichiniAs a citizen of Alameda, I feel that Alameda's fire department is a critical component of the city's life/safety network and considering our potentially isolated location in the Bay Area, we would be put at a substantial risk in the event of simultaneous fires. Also, the risk is magnified exponentially in the event of a large disaster (earthquake). Our bridge/tunnel links would likely be severed which would require the city be as self-sufficient as possible. I support the AFD's drive to protect the citizenry, and the critical asset - the firefighters themselves, by preventing the closures as presented.
AnonymousThe Fire Department is very important to this community and the need is great. The island sits off to itself and to rely on help for neighboring communities because of cuts to FD serves here would be an insult to the tax payers who live here and students who pay for an education here as well as those of us who work here.
Furqan khanWe need to maintain the current Fire Dept resources so we are prepared for the next major disaster.
