There were many fires in my old neighborhood in SF, some caused by arson, some caused by accidents or gas explosions. Also, friends of mine in Alameda suffered a devastating loss when their home burned up a few years ago. The City of Alameda should work hard to keep the Fire Dept. well staffed at least at its current levels. Thank you. |

I beg you to look into other areas of need before we take away a vital piece of equipment and personnel in a day and age where disaster can strike at anytime. |

| 40 | Christopher Michini | As a citizen of Alameda, I feel that Alameda's fire department is a critical component of the city's life/safety network and considering our potentially isolated location in the Bay Area, we would be put at a substantial risk in the event of simultaneous fires. Also, the risk is magnified exponentially in the event of a large disaster (earthquake). Our bridge/tunnel links would likely be severed which would require the city be as self-sufficient as possible.
I support the AFD's drive to protect the citizenry, and the critical asset - the firefighters themselves, by preventing the closures as presented. |
