The International Olympic Committee finally admitted their mistake and restored Alain Baxter's bronze medal. It took far too long to undo this injustice but the record books are finally being corrected. Thank you for staying loud until they were forced to do the right thing.

The momentum behind this push is finally forcing the International Olympic Committee to acknowledge just how deep this injustice runs. They stripped a medal from a deserved athlete over a technicality and we are going to keep the pressure on until they make this right.

Alain has been cleared so please return the medal. If he had been from one of skiings 'powerhouse' countries he would have had it back years ago. Rich also said at the time he didn't deserve it. Time for a good dose of integrity from the IOC and Raich.
Alain should get the medal back, the argument against him hinged on the testimony of an American doctor who allowed USA athletes to continue competing, despite repeatedly failing drug tests! This does not make him a reliable witness.
I am a medical doctor and I have every sympathy with Alain Baxter. He did not know the Vicks spray in the USA contains a banned substance, and he is innocent of any intention to cheat. It in no way assisted him. Please reinstate him.
If he was cleared by the cleared by the court of arbitration of sport then the fact that the IOC refuse to accept the decision then the court is a pointless institution. Just shows how entrenched organisation such as the IOC can be.
The decision was stupid and outside of the intention of the anti drug taking lobby to capture real cheats. To disqualify him was spiteful and smacked of a vengeful attack by the big alpine nations to discredit a small , in Alpine terms, nation.
My cousin Alain won that medal fair and square for being the brilliant athlete and skier that he is. He used a Vicks Inhaler to clear his blocked nose because he knew that it was an ‘allowed’ medication. He did not know that American Vicks had something else in it. This did not make him win his medal!! The years of hard work, sacrifice, hard grind, sleeping in his car, trying to raise funds and find support - that is what won him the bronze medal. I am fed up watching skiing, Winter Olympics and ski Sunday on the BBC and there is barely a mention of him. His life was ripped apart in that moment. HIS MEDAL SHOULD BE GIVEN BACK TO HIM

As much as I loved to see Jenny Jones pick up her medal, it really did grate on me hearing the English commentators mention this was Britain's first medal on Snow!! This guy is a legend and a true athlete and was cleared of the drugs allegation!
