| 201 | Deborah A Rabuck | please do not support puppy mills |
| 202 | Renee Broden | To the 12 Board members that voted for the Petland contact,
It is time for YOU ALL to activate the termination clause in the contract. We, the constituents and customers of the AKC, do NOT want the AKC involved in business with sleezy pet shops & Puppymillers!
Responsible Owners/Breeders/Exhibitors Have had enough!!!!!
Remember we can take our business else where!!! |
| 203 | Daina B Hodges | |
| 204 | Jamie Wilke | |
| 205 | Christina | The AKC should be ashamed of themselves!! |
| 206 | Sharon Lai | |
| 207 | Jan Pipic | |
| 208 | laurie thurman | |
| 209 | Renee Hall | This agreement does not benefit the general public nor the dogs. It is set up to hurt all involved and as such should be reversed/cancelled. |
| 210 | Rachel Maynard | I used to work for Petland. I know how heartless they truly can be. |
| 211 | Jean Fawley | I have no respect for any organization that would in any way support puppy mills which this contract does. I never thought the AKC woudl ever stoop this low just for the $ involved. |
| 212 | Lori Brostrom | This is a tacit encouragement of puppy mills, and it's shameful that AKC would be a party to this. As an organization, it should be encouraging and rewarding responsible breeders who raise puppies in a home setting, advance breed interests and standards, and follow best practices to ensure health issues are addressed. I'm appalled that AKC did this, and ask that it both rescind this decision and also take a more proactive anti-puppy mill stance. |
| 213 | Kathleen M King | For Shame on AKC. |
| 214 | Nancy Holmes | Please put a stop to this |
| 215 | Anonymous | |
| 216 | Holly Hayward-Thomas | There are so many dogs dying in shelters across the U.S. alone, why would you promote this type of business!
If you really care about your breed, than think about all those that are dying needlessly every day! |
| 217 | Steven Freeman | |
| 218 | Linda Burke | When will AKC put animal welfare above monetary gain? This is why rare breed clubs such as the Bolognese Club, resist AKC and CKC.
Linda Burke
Vice-Presideent, Bolognese Club of Canada |
| 219 | Jean Burns, DVM | This is the most underhanded deal with the devil I have seen in a long while. I don't know how the powers that be can sleep at night.
Simply disgusted,
Jean Burns, DVM |
| 220 | Hilary Mohr | Stop puppy mills!!! Support responsible breeders!! |

| 225 | Carole Seller | Shame on you AKC. You should be an example of canine advocacy not a hinderance to sound responsible breeding. |
| 226 | Brooke Bikneris | AKC is a money mongering train wreck. And the unfortunate victims are the dogs. BOOOOO! |
| 227 | Erica K. Greis | |
| 228 | Stacy DeJoseph | |
| 229 | Jennifer Revenig | Please do not support puppy mills selling pups in stores |
| 230 | Nancy Koch | |
| 231 | Jen | |
| 232 | Ann Callahan | AKC, what is the difference between PetLand and
puppymillers?? |
| 233 | Laurie Weaver | Shame on you AKC.
You are just in it for the buck. |

| 235 | Maureen Bowman | |
| 236 | Richard Abrant | Please do not suport puppy mills. They just breed suffering and misery. |
| 237 | Linda Howell | |
| 238 | Hazel Carson | AKC should be doing more to discourage brokering and puppy mills. Too much emphasis is placed on paper work, too little on the welfare of the dogs. As a former breeder of AKC dogs, I strongly oppose any alliance between AKC and these groups. |
| 239 | Juanita Heidebrecht | AKC should be ashamed of themselves for even thinking of teaming up with puppy millers. |
| 240 | Kevin Heidebrecht | |
| 241 | nicole sherrill | |
| 242 | M. Scheffke | Has the AKC really lowered their standards this far for the sake of $. They should reread their mission statement! |
| 243 | Kathleen Coleman | It is completely unacceptable for the AKC to even think of forming an alliance with brokers and puppy mills. The breed rescue programs are FULL of dogs from these people. It is time to put brokers and puppy mills out of business and to recognize there is no place for them in the dog world. |
| 244 | Beth Thornton | How shameful of AKC to become all about the $$$ instead of about the keeping of high standards for our purebred dogs. I am sure this was not the intentions of the founders of AKC. |
| 245 | Ann Marie Pember | The alliance of AKC with any business or corporation that re-sells puppies is in direct opposition to what AKC has always represented to me. |
| 246 | Barbara Evins | |
| 247 | Juliana Hite | Dear AKC:
It is a sorry state that the organization has come down to one thing. - money. I believe this contract with Petland goes AGAINST EVERYTHING the AKC stands for. It goes against your by-laws. The reason many of the other organizations have cropped up is that people had dogs that weren't good enough to get their titles thru AKC or AKC didn't recognize their breed. In the past, I have always felt that dogs registered with AKC and titled (performance or breed) by AKC were superior to dogs who didn't persue their AKC titles (if allowed). Now , AKC has lowered their standards and made themselves indistiguishable from any other organization. Rescue groups will be swamped with dogs that were bought from folks who got a dog cause it was cute in the petshop but had no clue as to the adult version of the dog. Your ethical long term breeders educate their buyers and stand behind their product. I don't see Petland or their suppliers doing that. Your ethical breeders will eventually be put out of business since they will be unable to compete with the puppy mills putting out huge amounts of dogs with no health checks. Yes, your goal, the number of dogs registered with AKC, will go up, but the overall quality of those dogs will go down. AKC has always been particular about which breeds it allowed since it wanted breeds with a reliable history. I see Labradoodles and Peek- A Pugs becoming AKC breeds. AKC would have been better off supporting spayed and neutered mix-breed dogs in performance events. At least you would have then encouraged responsible dog ownership in people and not just rampant breeding practices. Yes, I love my dogs and my breed, but I am now encouraged to look at other organizations who care about the dogs it supports and it's members views. In all honesty my participation in AKC events may decline since these titles now hold less prestige than other groups.
I feel your contract with Petland was done in an underhanded manner. Why didn't you give us a chance to voice our opinion. No you followed the almighty dollar. A good analogy use to be that AKC was the exclusive country club. No, not everyone got in, but those that belonged were the best of the best. Now, AKC has become the corner bar where the liquor is cheap but plentiful. It is a sad day in the dog world indeed. |
| 248 | CA Mostad | |
| 249 | Gloria S. Dittmann | I cannot believe the AKC is actually going into partnership with PetLand, which is one of the worst of the worst and deals with the absolutely bottom-of-the-barrel puppy mills! By taking this action, the AKC is sticking a knife in the back of every reputable, caring hobby breeder who has supported the AKC loyally for over 100 years.
Please, AKC Board, do not do this! |
