| 701 | Dielle Bradford | I am very disturbed by the manner in which this is going done. the AKC has been highly regarded in the purebreed dog world. Now it will just be another sell out to corporate interests. |

| 703 | Donna Smiley-Auborn | Shame on you, AKC's Board of Directors! You add insult to injury by not even *reading* the PetLand contract before you sign it?!?! What hubris you all have, and how extremely out of touch you are wth your core constituency - the breeders, exhibitors and club members who strive to breed for the improvement and health of their respective breeds (unlike PetLand suppliers and Hunte Corp puppy-millers). You are still, to my knowledge, a "not-for-profit" organization, are you not?!?! |
| 704 | Mary Siegel | They said if they cut out the HVB, they would have to raise their fees. They did, and we didn't complain. Then they went right back to the HVB and invited them back in. I think AKC may have too many accountants and not enough ethical dog people. Too much looking at the bottom line will destroy integrity. |

| 710 | Valerie E Fare | why is the AKC promoting dogs from pet stores? We all know the puppy mills went to alternate registration sources when the DNA was required..so now the dogs are suddenly AKC? AKC will mean nothing if this continues |
| 711 | kelly chuba | I question all of your motives and your reputation suffers. Soon the AKC will not be worth the paper it is printed on and will be synonomous with the misery you breed. |
| 712 | Jan Vogel | Deplorable!!! AKC is supposed to stand above the rest of the registeries. Now, they are going into business with PET SHOPS!!! SHAME ON AKC!!! |
| 713 | Desiree Komar | stop puppy mills now |

| 717 | Rita Whiteman | Puppy mills breed nothing but misery!!! Certainly the AKC doesn't want to condone this - put the animal's welfare first - PLEASE! |
| 718 | Rabbi Brian I. Michelson | The AKC must demand the highest standard of treatment and conditions for dogs that it registers. If the AKC cannot help eliminate puppy mills and the horrible treatment of their breeding stock, then who can. |

| 726 | Fay Dahlquist | This is ridiculous for AKC to do this - you think that they would have better morals. |
| 727 | Daniela Montgomery | I have been boycotting Petland for years, but if the AKC goes doesn't activate the termination clause, I will certainly be boycotting them as well. The AKC should promote standards and not encourage irresponsible breeding and puppy mills! |
| 728 | Joyce Enlow | It is sending the wrong message for AKC to involve itself with pet shops or commercial breeders. |
| 729 | Tippy Olivares | My daugher just started showing in AKC but now with all the bull AKC is putting out there she may not be showing in AKC long. First it is telling how and where judges can judge and now this supporting of puppy mills. I dont see how AKC can morally step into something like this. At what point is AKC going to support the sport of showing dogs and legitimete breeders and stop with trying to figure out how they can get more money in their pockets? |
| 730 | Erin Eichler | |
| 731 | Anonymous | Now here's an interesting theory:
With AKC's new restriction on judges, and now their alliaince with Petland. Doesn't it appear as though AKC wants to legitimize these new "puppy mill dogs" by having the prestigeous "AKC judge" award those dogs points at future dog shows??
Once this happens, I would say those "prestigeous judges" will eventually loose all respect in the dog fancy and will become known as little more than "puppy mill" judges!
The AKC is on the long path through the cesspool and is dragging their precious judges through this crap with them.
Judges... get out while you can! While you still have your reputations! Forget AKC! There are other legitimate registries out there that will glady accept you. Those registries will, at the very least, allow you to keep your good name and reputation intact.
Those other registries?
American Border Collie Association , Australian Shepherd Club of America, Leonberger Club of America Inc. , Master of Foxhounds Association of North America, The National Greyhound Assoc. , Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, the United Kennel Club, and the Professional Kennel Club, just to name a few!
So yes, those judges wanting to leave the unethical AKC will still have plenty of opportunity for assignments.
As the saying goes "bad company corrupts good morals" . The "bad company" being the AKC. Judges, DO NOT let your good reputations be ruined by standing by this corrupt organization.
You judges need to Stand UP to AKC and let them know that the communist bully has no power, nor any say over you whatsoever!
When AKC gets away with this type of bullying, it only enboldens them to carry out further restrictions.
The AKC is very much like a terrorist organization. YOU CANNOT NEGOTIATE WITH A TERRORST AND YOU CANNOT NEGOTIATE WITH THE AKC.
The only thing AKC understands is THE BOTTOM LINE!
Speak to there "Bottom Line" if you want to change this organization.
Better yet, all of these other registries should all come together and turn the tables on AKC!!
Let the other legitimate registries rise to the top, while AKC falls into the mire and muck of the puppy mills and the scandals that go along with that. Let the AKC go by the way of the Continental Kennel Club. The AKC's time has come and gone. It served it's purpose. It's a shame... it really is.
However, it is time to cut our loses and move on.
This is My opinion.

| 733 | Sharon Reynolds | I am distressed to hear the that AKC is supporting the sale of puppies at a pet store. I'm hopping that this is a misunderstanding of some sort because I can't understand how a group whose goal is to promote the well being of the purebred dog could be assisting in the selling of puppies at a pet store which also enables irresponsible breeders to "unload" their produce. |

| 735 | Christen Pope | This is outrageous! AKC will lose all credibility if this new contract to allow puppy mill dogs to be registered is put into effect. |
| 736 | Bill Lewis | The reported contract AKC has signed with PetLand sets the Fancy back a hundred years! You have shamed us all with your lack of conscience. WCL |
| 737 | Dianne Feinstein | I chose my breed in 1992 because it was not AKC recognized at the time. I bought all three of my Aussies from reputable breeders whose only goal is to breed a better dog, not to breed for the public's demand or to sell to pet stores, but for the betterment of their breed.
Accepting puppy mill puppies into the registry isn't going to help. It's going to push honorable, reputable breeders out for the sake of the all mighty dollar. The public is going to have no choice but to buy poor quality, often sick puppies from puppy millers.
What then will a Championship mean to those who have worked so hard to title their dogs? |
| 738 | Mary Beth Rogers | |
| 739 | Robbie Condit | |
| 740 | cassandra kraham | Puppy millers and puppy brokers have no interest in anything but profit and cannot possibly have any positive impact on breeds. |

How can they deliver such a glowing speach at Westmiinster touting the accomplishments of reputable breeders and then have ANYTHING to do with this petland??? You can not continue to talk out of BOTH sides of your mouth. Perhaps these practices inclluding being at dog auctions all over Missouri have something to do with people not wanting to support AKC or their shows. |
| 749 | Katrina Tustin | What a travesty that such a reputable organization would give up their ethics for a few more dollars. |
