Tracie Crawford | This is just a tragic course for the AKC to take. The Board should take a good long look at the mission statement and then recind the contract.
Martha Logue | AKC is as greedy as the puppymills.
Donna McKay-Randozzi | This contract with Petland goes against everything I have believed about the AKC. If the contract is not rescinded, I will no longer participate in any AKC dog activities and will withdraw from my local breed club. I will also advocate and work for a boycott of AKC events and clubs.

Dana Lerma | I am the Development Manager for a Humane Society that unfortunately receives hundreds of purebred dogs every year. Many end up here as a result of "Pet Shop" purchases, where the pups were acquired from breeding mills and could not be returned to the breeder. Health problems abound as a result of improper breeding practices. The AKC should not support such inhumane practices.
| 557 | Barbara Johannes | We work hard to shut down places like Petland and now you ar lending them more credibility!!
You know these dogs come from puppy mills and brokers. I am appalled that you would back such a group. All parent breed clubs should also be objecting to the abuse of dogs. |

Carol Hunsberger | I protest this alliance.
Karen Cannard | Bree ing is not for money. What happened to the betterment of the breed, not just registration numbers? I am very disappointed in the AKC.

Laura Crandall | I am on a waiting list for my first AKC registered puppy. I had felt that the AKC was beginning to respond to some of the puppy mill situations in a positive manner. Now that I have heard about this joint agreement with a pet store, I once again feel that the AKC is more interested in money than in dog's welfare. If this goes through it will make my decision as to whether or not to support AKC events very easy. I have worked with rescues far too long to support an organization that supports pet store puppies.
Lynn Birkner |
Joanne O'Brien | I have a puppy mill/pet store dog who suffered mental and physical abuse and neglect before finally coming into rescue. AKC should not be condoning this type of breeding and mishandling.

Kari McCloskey | This is AKC's way of making revenue, not helping the fancy. This would promote more registrations, but will encourage puppy millers to sell their dogs to Petland, thus producing more puppies for an already over loaded animal production system. I work for an SPCA. I see a number of purebred dogs that are registered with AKC come through the door. Maybe AKC should start promoting purebred adoptions, purchase through rescue or a reputable breeder, instead of supporting the money hunrgy puppy mills. But I guess as individual breeders, we don't produce enough puppies nor new registrations to keep AKC's pocket lined.

Nadine Nadeau | this is a way to encourage more pet owners to breed and AKC to make more money, certainly is not out for the betterment of the breeds

Ami Marsell | Petstores should be prohibited from selling dogs/cats as a whole. This is a great first step.
Linda Scanlon | Why not look at alternative ways to save business expenses thus improving the bottom line?

Roslyn | Puppy mills NEED to be shut down. Its inhumane to breed dogs like that. How would u like it if u had babies over and over again and you got sick, worn out and then was abandoned or inhumanely killed because you couldnt have any more babies?
Janet L. Adam |
Anonymous | This is a terrible idea, and I cannot believe that AKC would approve such a measure. Please do not go through with this.
Janice Flaningan |
Elizabeth Mitchell |
Sue Meier | I am appalled at the decision of AKC management to align the organization with a business such as Petland.
| 589 | marjorie cooke | This is a sellout of people who work hard to produce
quality puppies who represent their breed. |
Sean Perry | I am appalled that AKC would help a business such as Petland that is aligned with PUPPY MILLS. I hate to see that this is all about money and registration numbers. I think they have lost thier minds and they have forgotten the poor dogs.

Gerald Roberts | To me, AKC was always the best. Now, they have sunk lower than the other registeries, and for what? GREED.
