| 1 | Diane Bishop | The AKC is no longer the good registry it was. I am ashamed. Stop the madness and get back to the good breeders. |
| 2 | K. Peak | The AKC is not what it was when I was a child. They are headed down the same road as those registries designed for puppy mills and that do not care. The AKC must stop or lose the little respect they may retain. I also ask more people to leave the AKC and help build the UKC. Maybe this will get attention. |
| 3 | Anonymous | This is being passed on. I hope the AKC reconsiders this. Thank you those who are taking this seriously. The AKC thinks of money first and dogs second. |

| 5 | Victoria Ball | Un- be- effing- leev- able !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you say, "Sleeping with the enemy?"
A few years ago AKC ticked off the puppymillers & they started their own registries, which hit the AKC in its sacred bottom line. Maybe we show breeders should start our own registry & let the AKC & the puppymill industry be happy little bedfellows. The venerable AKC on the same plane with APRI & cKC, pathetic what some folks'll do for a buck! |

| 7 | Anonymous | It's horrible that AKC is having pet stores regester puppy mill dogs. These dogs should not be regestered. Byd oing this AKC is just supporting and promoting puppy mills. |

| 11 | Anonymous | If this trend in the AKC continues, I will stop competing in AKC events, stop registering my dogs with them (since such registry will guarantee nothing as to the quality of the dog and in fact, will place my dogs in the same category as puppy mill dogs), resign my membership with an AKC affiliated club and actively discourage people from buying or registering AKC dogs. If they need more money, let neutered or spayed mixed breeds compete in performance events. |
| 12 | Anonymous | It is devistating that we are now faced with AKCs acceptance of puppy mills and the retailers that profit from them. How could they allow the puppy mills to profit with their ok? AKC no longer accepts the responsibility of the purebred puppy. AKC has sold its sole to the devil. |
| 13 | Evelyn Shaw | I do not believe this is the direction the American Kennel Club should go. |
| 14 | Anonymous | If this trend continues in the AKC, I will stop entering AKC events, stop registering my dogs with the AKC (since such registration will guarantee nothing as to the quality of the dog and in fact, will place my dogs in the same category as puppy mill dogs), resign my membership in an AKC affiliated club and actively discourage people from buying and registering AKC dogs. If the AKC wants to earn more money, let spayed and neutered mixed breed dogs compete in performance events. |

| 17 | Becky Tellalian | Does the AKC truly want to known as little more than a "Puppy Mill" registry and "enjoy" the same reputation as the Continental Kennel club, America's Pet Registry (APRI), Worldwide Kennel Club, Universal Kennel Club, etc, etc??
Hey, they'll all be in good company, with one exception, of course... at least the AKC will have the wonderful distinction of being known as THE wealthiest and largest "Puppy Mill" registry in the world. Fine bragging rights for AKC!!
It's time for all of you responsible breeders to start heavily supporting your breeds parent clubs. Additionally, you may want to begin registering and supporting the UKC. If AKC wants to be known as the "World's Largest and Wealthiest Puppy Mill Registry", then reputable breeders need to stop associating with that registry! |
| 18 | Michelle Ferrington | I am disgusted by the AKC's "deal" with the likes of petshops, puppy mills and brokers.
They need to spend more time supporting ethical, responsible, breeders and owners!! |
| 19 | Wendy | Welcome to the world of junk registries, AKC. You now share the same goal as the scum of the earth puppymillers--CA$H.
Way to punish the ethical breeders....rope them in with the backyard breeders and millers. Is that what we needed? I don't think so. |

| 22 | Beverly Hutchinson | Putting aside concerns about the puppies coming from mills --- in a cage 20+ hours a day, eliminating through a metal grill, with little chance to explore the environment and learn during the so important 8-16 weeks, is NOT going to produce well socialized, even tempered pets. Not to mention the puppies are alone every night for some 12 hours. What dog person in their right mind would condone these practices? I guess the AKC does! |
| 23 | Deborah Hansen | the akc has to be more selective |
| 24 | Suzanne Cox | I am still shaking my head over this irresponsible and outrageous action taken by AKC with Petland. Please, please tell me it isn't so--or that the contract will be cancelled. |
| 25 | Anonymous | The AKC does enough harm in bolstering the "benefits" of a registered dog when so many loving animals die every day, purebred and mutt, simply for lack of homes. This latest endorsement of for-profit breeding is a travesty and a disgrace. |
| 26 | Andrea Eardley | Might as well throw my registration papers in the trash if the AKC is buying into a petshop corporation. What ever happened to "for the betterment of the breed"????? |
| 27 | Mary Taylor | 9-12 million good animals euthanised in the US yearly. And the AKC is behind and support implicitly much of this suffering. AKC has become nothing but PIMPS of animals. |
| 28 | Gayle George-Sackett | |
| 29 | amanda brown | |
| 30 | scott danner | its about the breeds not the money |
| 31 | Anonymous | AKC supporting Petland absoluty disgusts me. If AKC continues to support puppymillers and PAWS legislation then I'm going to withdraw from entering any kind of their trials and will focus on other performance venues such as NADAC and UKC instead. |
| 32 | shannon scarborough | This is a shameless sell out for an orginzation that was designed to better the breeding standards. |

| 35 | Ellen Doty | This agreement has alarmed many. Is AKC really sponsoring puppy mills? |
| 36 | Valerie L. Young | member: Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of America and representative to the AKC parent club conference
member: Columbus All-Breed Training Club
past-member: New River Valley Kennel Club
I am appalled at AKC's entering into this contract. I want to know how the clubs can take back control of what is supposed to be OUR AKC. |
| 37 | Yvonne Anderson | There is not integrity in registering puppy mill dogs, supporting puppy mills does not protect the health and well being of dogs - take a look at the news!!
Dog owners are not interested in supporting puppy mills!!!
What about your "Core Values"
AKC's Core Values:
We are dedicated to maintaining the integrity of our Registry
We protect the health and well-being of all dogs
We are committed to the interests of dog owners |

| 40 | anne marie silva | |
| 41 | S. L. | Have you lost your mind, AKC people? |
| 42 | Karlyn Berg | This is a very irresponsible act to form an alliance to mass sell puppies through a chain store! On one hand AKC claims they are oposed to puppy mills but now have made such a conflicting contract to sell puppies in cages. There are enough unwanted dogs in this world and this action does not even advance careful breeding of purebreds or mixed breeds. It is a stain on the AKC reputation. |
| 43 | Janet L May | |
| 44 | A. Katherine Szafran | As a long-time AKC participant (in a variety of events ranging from conformation to herding), a member of AKC affiliate clubs, as a breed rescue representative, and as an occasional breeder who literally spends years planning each cross to preserve health, temperament, working ability, structure and type in my chosen breed, I am absolutely appalled that AKC would consider, much less sign an agreement, to work with the commercial pet industry. I don't suspect it is coincidental that this nefarious move comes at the same time when AKC is prohibiting its judges from working at competitions sponsored by single-breed organizations (such as the Australian Shepherd Club of America) which have worked for decades to stem the tide of irresponsible breeding (and dog ownership) such as that supported by commercial dog sellers. I'm sad to say that if this is something that AKC chooses to move forward it, I will no longer to affiliated with or supportive of the organization. |
| 45 | martha baggs | Was under the impression that the AKC was to
assist and help maintain the Standard of All the Breeds.I Am shocked that they would support the
Breeding of these puppy Mills Dogs thereby
produceing Inferior substandard Dogs. |

| 48 | Eileen Penwell | The AKC needs to stand firmly behind animal welfare advocates in their battle against Puppy Mills. |
| 49 | Anonymous | Seems it may be the perfect time to start a new registry for reputable breeders that will hold high standards to what they allow registered. |
| 50 | Carol Chartier | Who are the people that voted for this?? Sure isnt any dog lovers that I know!! Encouraging Puppy mills & Back yard breeders. You must be out of your minds. Go to your local animal shelter & see how many of the pure breds are being put to sleep.& you people want to create more? Wake up & let the serious breeders better the breeds & keep the breeders for ONLY THE MONEY out of it |
