With the unfortunate recent news of Allen Iverson's retirement, I have been struggling with the fact that my all time favorite player is going out like this. He has been a true great in the NBA for 13 years and for it to end like this is a tragedy. I'm also a die-hard 76ers fan for 17 years and I have been disgusted with the direction of this team since they traded Allen to Denver a few years ago. Ed Stefanski has made some VERY questionable decisions, and has done next to nothing to elevate the excitement level of Sixers fans during his time with the team. He poured all of his money and the teams whole future into a very broken down man (Elton Brand). He hired his "boy" Eddie Jordan who chose to run an offense that doesnt seem to fit the players. In a nutshell, this current Sixers regime is the epitome of mediocrity. Lou Williams is out or two months, Speights is out for awhile, and Elton Brand is the most disappointing signing in Philadelphia sports history. As a loyal fan, this all upsets me immensely. Us true fans need and deserve to be excited again. This brings me to the point of this petition... The 76ers need to bring back Allen Iverson. Its that simple. This move would benefit everyone involved. It wil give us fans a reason to get back into this season, and believe that we can make some noise this year. It will give Allen the exit from the NBA that he deserves. It will give the 76ers organization more revenue, ticket sales and attention that it BADLY needs. This single move would turn the whole city upside down. If only for the rest of this season, this needs to happen! It makes too much sense to ignore. I've heard some say this would stump the growth of the team, but come on! I'm a fan of these guys, but they aren't going anywhere at all right now. Jrue Holiday is nowhere near ready, I think that is evident over his last few starts. The team lacks leadership and killer instinct that A.I still has. I know he does. The empty seats in the arena are embarrassing and depressing for me as a true fan. So please, anyone who loves the Sixers or Allen Iverson, or both as much as me....sign this petition! BRING ALLEN IVERSON BACK TO PHILLY!!!!!
