Comments: You can't do this! Thanks for destroying a few years of worth of dreaming and hoping!! I will refuse to see this movie if it ever comes out. Peter Jackson deserves this! Get it all sorted out and give it to him. I won't give up and neither will the millions of fans out there. We're not easily brought down. And don't forget, this means *millions* of dollars wasted. No seriously, thanks a bunch. What a sensitive thing to do. You have no idea how much this means to us.

Comments: New Line, we know you want money, that's okay, but you have to be REALLY stupid to get rid of a director who created a film that CLEAN SWEEPED at the academy awards. . . that little film was called Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Just let Jackson get 'er done, you'll be thankful later, and the franchise won't lose credibility (Do you hear that Silmirilian More money for you New Line)

Does that ring a bell Peter Jackson has brought so much to you guys!! HOW CAN YOU DO THIS! Bring Peter Jackson back. You know very well that he's the only one who can make this movie a success.

Comments: I am severely disappointed at this turn of events. For one, if this goes ahead with PJ, we will always wonder what it might have been like if he had helmed the project. Indeed, if the film/s are not up to standard, the wrath of the millions of the fans worldwide will be swifter and more powerful than that of Sauron himself. I hope the various actors (McKellan, Serkis, etc.) decide to opt out of this until PJ is put back into the mix. The idea of The Hobbit without him and his team is astounding and disturbing, and if New Line goes through with this, it can count its DVD sales out the window, for one, if even half of the fans see the movie (there is much talk of boycotting). Bring back PJ.

Comments: This may do no good, but I am a lawyer, and this is the reason that lawyers and business executives are looked down upon in the manner that they are. So there is a lawsuit that has New Line as a defendant. Without a doubt the profitability of the Hobbit would be in the billions with Peter Jackson. Billions. This is the kind of money that keeps studios alive for years to come. I don't know much about the realities of the lawsuit, but I am sure that it is millions. Hmm, do the math New Line. Billions or millions. I have an excellent solution: if a New Line executive called Wingnut and said they were out of the Hobbit, that person should be immediately fired and politely escorted from the studios and a call should be placed that his comments were premature. Find a mediator to immediately resolve the lawsuit. Start production on the movie. If I were MGM I would also delay to cut New Line out of the picture if that is possible. The bottom line is any decision makers to go forward without Wingnut should be out of a job. The Hobbit with Peter Jackson would make well over a billion worldwide easy. Hobbit without It would be a loss. Go and ruin your studio if you wish.

Comments: New Line is doing a huge disservice to everyone, including themselves. I think they underestimate the devotion fans have to Peter Jackson. And the talent and passion that Peter Jackson has. The Hobbit is going to be a hard movie to make decent, and no one but PJ would be able to do that. I'm completely fine with never supporting New Line, they have made a huge mistake and are going to lose A LOT of money over this. I hope they regret it and decide to change.

Comments: For consistancy and creative singularity this film must be directed by Peter Jackson. I am not a epic film fan typically, but I felt that the three Ring movies were so well done and contiguous. It could only make artistic sense to maintain the same team.

Comments: I'm sorry to see this development. I had hoped the issues between Peter and NewLine could have been worked out, to allow them to work together again to make another piece of movie magic that will "fit" with those already produced. I hope there is still some room for discussion on this issue.

Comments: "I read yesterday Peter Jackson's statement about being off the Hobbit project. I won't vent or send expletives your way, I was able to vent on online forums. I watched each LOTR movie 7 times in the theatre, bought all the extended gift set editions and spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on LOTR merchandise. I can tell you that without Peter Jackson and his creative team involved, I have ZERO interest in the Hobbit movie and will not see it, and so will many other millions of fans. Sincerely, Josh Long

Comments: How can you think people would want to see The Hobbit without Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Wingnut films involved It's completely stupid! If you're so all about the money than you'd know that just having Peter's name on this would pull in big bucks for you. I can tell you honestly as a huge fan of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books and the movies, me and my family and friends absolutely refuse to see it without him involved. Anything less than his vision is trash.
