Comments: Peter Jackson is the only choice, as he has the heart, drive and passion that is needed to put the unfilmable to screen. He's done it before and he can do it again!

Comments: There is no way that this massive project can be undertaken without somebody on board with the talent and passion to deliver what the fans want. And there's only one team for that. The LOTR team. Jackson, Walsh, Boyens, Wingnut, WETA, and the cast and crew who made the trilogy such a memorable expereince. You mst get these people on board. I have no interest in a continuation of this francise without them.

Comments: That is messed up!!! The Hobbit NEEDS to be made by the makers of the LORD OF THE RINGS! IT will make tons more money that way and you are letting the World and all the fans down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please let Peter Jackson direct!! Without him some of the actors and even Howard Shore may not return. I am not interested in seeing "another version" or "another flavor" of Middle Earth. No director or actor or musician can match the brilliance of the makers of the Lord of the Rings. The Hobbit will flop if you get new people to do it. Millions will boycott it! FOrget about your stupid lawsuit!! Like Peter Jackson said "making a movie shoud be about heart, not some cold-blooded lawsuit!" NEW LINE !!! I thought you were one of the greatest companies. I think not!!! If you have betrayed Peter Jackson you have betrayed us all!!!!! You and your company and your movie will fall!!!!! We will not stand for this!!!! The number 1 trilogy of ALL TIME and you turn down the makers HOW STUPID ARE YOU I would rather have it take a few more years and have the LORD OF THE RINGS people direct than you kick them off and jump the gun!! NEW LINE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

Comments: TO THE EXECUTIVES AT NEW LINE: I am saddened and very disappointed in your decision to make "The Hobbit" without Peter Jackson. I am not sure if you have realized it, but at this point, Peter Jackson's name is synomonous with films set in Middle-Earth, much like Steven Spielberg's name is synomonous with a certain globe trekking archaeologist. I don't know if you've forgotten, but there was no guarantee that "Lord of the Rings" was going to be a success, and there is no guarantee that "The Hobbit" is going to be a success. A big reason why "Lord of the Rings" worked had to do with the vision and talent of Peter Jackson and the people who believed in him and worked to ensure that his vision and interpretation of Tolkien made it to the silver screen. Could someone else make a good movie version of "The Hobbit" Sure, quite possibly. But why take that risk Peter Jackson has already proven himself to be a master in regards to the cinematic life of that universe. His and his team's interpretation of that material has already made you billions of dollars. More than that, his vision has been embraced by people around the world. Are you really willing to gamble against that Remember, just because a movie bears a tie to "Lord of the Rings" does not mean that it'll be embraced by the fans. Anything less than the quality we have become accustomed to in a Middle-Earth movie will most likely erupt in a backlash by the fanbase. I seem to think that you're already seeing such a backlash, as it appears to us (the fans) that you're already missteping with this movie. If this is the course of action that you're determined to take, so be it. But you're starting this project off in a bad way. Every decision from here on out will be questioned by those whose money you hope to earn. We're already distrustful of you and if you do go through with this, you'll have a long way in going to win back that trust. I hope you see the error you may have made. I pray that perhaps, somewhere in those offices, people are panicked at our responses to this news, because right now, we, the fans, are panicked. This decision only seems to further the notion that studios only care about money. And we do understand, you are a business and that is your goal. It just seems shortsighted to cease negotiations with the director who made three blockbusters for you, a director who the people that bought the tickets for those blockbusters fully support. This is a huge risk. Why not go with the option that seems a sure thing instead Please, New Line Cinemas, resume communication with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Wingnut Films. It is the easiest way to kill this negative buzz about a movie that hasn't even gone into preproduction yet. And quite frankly, I think that we, the fans, would say that it is best for the movie itself. That in turn will make you a lot of money and it'll make a lot of people very happy. I hope you can see the win/win scenario in that.

Comments: This decision by New Line could very well go down in history as one of the worst business decisions ever. It will cost them billions of dollars. It's like the Red Sox trading Babe Ruth to the Yankees. Change your mind, New Line Cinema. You will regret it if you don't.
