Example: Today I was in a chatroom and someone IMed me from the chat saying, "Give me your MySpace or I will ban you." He doesn't have the right to do that, so I didn't give it to him and he ended up banning me. |

I believe that bots should be removed from AIM chat rooms because of the following problems:
1)Inappropriate Behavior:
-The language and content of bots' messages are almost always vulgar. Some people find this to be offensive.
2)Deception:
-You may be browsing through chat rooms and start chatting with someone for a little while; maybe only a minute or so, and then it happens. In the twinkle of eye, what you thought was the beginning of a pleasant conversation turns into a crafty porno ad.
3)Annoyance:
-After a while of having that happen (point #1, or a similar scenario), it gets annoying.
4)Consumption of Time:
-After a while of having that happen (point # 1 or a similar scenario) it wastes time.
5)Availability:
-I'm not positive on this one, but permitting bots in AIM chat rooms may reduce the amount seats available in a chat room for those who want to join because of the seats they use up.
You have read a list of a few of the problems caused by allowing bots in AIM chat rooms. Now here is a list of possible solutions to this problem:
1)Get Rid of 'Em:
-Completely eliminate bots from AIM chat rooms.
2)Make a Section Specifically Designated to Bots:
-I personally consider this sort of pointless seeing how it is not very difficult to find pornography on the internet, BUT for the sake of potential opposition, this way they would no longer be a nuisance to those who don't want them around and be available to those who do. |
