Comments: it wouldn't be that hard to ban the bots if you blocked all links in the chat rooms.... if a person wanted to send a link, he could im someone and give it to them that way, or in a private room

Comments: I have been using AIM for over 3 years, and I find it quite annoying now, with the bots. I know alot of people that have moved to other chat programs because of the bots. I like AIM best of all of the programs I have used, but its just not fun to chat on AIM anymore.

Comments: I Agree, these bots are annoying as hell and just a pain in the ass. You block one and it comes back again with one number in the screen name changed. It's a damn epidemic that needs to be stopped! I'm putting a link to this page in my profile, good luck and god bless

Comments: Sorry man its imposible we would all like the idea. but here is why. All a bot is, is a scirpt that comunicats to the aim TOC protocall as a registerd user and then displays messiges that it gets from a databse create on the users sytem such has messages.pl as far as aim is consernd it is a valid user. the only protection is flood. This i the 80 char limit AOL sets the bots stay active by using a SLEEP()%10% funtion telling the bot to sleep for 10 seconds befor runing its spam seshion again. yes AOL could block the registerd users known as BOTS that they are awar of but the porn industry has a endles amount. again just a VB script that talks to the .CGI form on the AOL web site and has a random genrating databse such as take 9 CHARS and 9 A to Z CHARS and submit them for a name password set password()"my pass% ANd vowalla new name out the ass. so you see all it is a is a registerd user on aim and a small script acting as a person typing on a key board. it knows no different so they are imposible to block out of rooms.I and i know of 2 other users on the chat rooms that are working on a program to auto detect bots after a few key strings that they say such as FREE PORN it would auto ignor the user buy using at get msg%free porn if msg%FREE PORN get screenname%porn bot screen name="1" screenname%ignor% if ignor="1" set screenname in databse; ignored.txt in turn ignoring the user for you. this does not stop them right away but evenchaly will get efective so bare with us for a little wile and wate for one o us to release out bot killer my friend untill then sit back and chill there is nuthign AOL can do. you can IM me at ICE BLUE 2600 later

Comments: I hate bots! I haven't been in an aim chat room in a long time because of the bots. You don't really get to chat with people anymore. There's only a list of links up and down the page. Recently, bots have been iming me with when i sign on. I have no idea how they could do this, but i hate it. It's very annoying and it makes me want to use something else other than aim. PLease get rid of the bots.

Comments: It is very difficult if not impossible to chat with all of the bots and spammers now in the chat rooms. Some of these bots don't even say anything but take up valuable space that another chatter could be using. Also, irritating is that the spammers and bots can now Instant Message everyone and unless you have your buddy list set for buddys only u get IM'ed to death. My thought is... if would be nice if the bots/spammers/snerts were deleted after their screennames reach 100% warning level several times. This could cut back on Instant Messaging at least. I suggest that a person in authority go into one of your chat rooms and try to chat and see how u fair.

Comments: Stopping the bots who claim to be underage and advertise porn should be of the utmost importance. From what I understand child porn is illegal and now that you have knowledge that they exist in AIM chat rooms you MUST do something about it.
