In light of the proposed May train times, this petition is to raise awareness of the need for public transport out of Horwich Parkway between the hours of 17:40 and 18:30 for the many office workers commuting back to Manchester.

Investment in Horwich has led to the area being developed, and large employers setting up their bases there such as ao.com, Eon, RBS, AXA and Keogh. Many workers have been drawn to work in the area from a range of locations, a significant number of whom are able to commute using public transport from the Greater Manchester area.

With the new proposed train times from Horwich Parkway from May 1st, the only train options for workers who finish work at 17:30 and wish to travel to Manchester are:
17:37(arrives in Manchester at 19:07) - involves changeover in Bolton
18:44(arrives in Manchester at 19:14) - involves changeover in Bolton

These proposed routes are no longer direct, so mean a 20 minute wait at Bolton station, as well as the additional wait at Horwich Parkway for the 18:44 train - should workers not be in a position to leave work immediately at 17:30 to follow the winding pedestrian system and negotiate the 2 seperate pedestrian crossings over 4 lanes of A road traffic to get to the train station for the 17:37. This walk usually takes 10 minutes from ao.com at a comfortable pace.

Whilst it is appreciated that work needs to be carried out on the line, there is a need for trains from Horwich Parkway to Manchester from 17:40 - 18:30 which should be taken into account and accommodated in the planning process.
