The market size of the real estate sector in India is projected to reach US$ 180 billion by 2020. The expected growth rate of the industry is at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19% for the period 2010–2014, with Tier I metropolitan cities contributing to almost 40% of this growth. Today this sector is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. The four components of this sector are housing, retail, hospitality, and commercial, with housing being the key one, which comprises 5 – 6 % of India's gross domestic product (GDP), at present.
Housing in India has been one of the most growth-oriented sectors in terms of investments as well as in its expansion in various sectors essentially, healthcare, educational institutes, senior citizen facilities etc. Housing being a necessity, it is a universal requirement from the rich to the poor.
"People of the country should be in a position to have 'pucca' houses for each one of them. It is not an easy job. But is possible. We have to make serious efforts for it. Seeking cooperation from corporates", said Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu.
India's rich diversity is the reason why a lot is running over our development and growth. Though we may have many reforms as encouragement to the industries, it is the mindset that requires to be changed.
The real estate sector is primarily associated with profits and corruption, with inflated rates and middlemen intervention, many find it an extremely challenging task to purchase a home, even after having saved up over time.

The Housing For All initiative, is one step towards creating affordable living units in India and we at CSVI are working in full support of this program.
Slum Rehabilitation coming under CSR is going to have significant impact on the residential market in Mumbai, as it will encourage more SRA housing. This will be a great boost for Mumbai where 60% of the population still live in slums.
The affordable housing project, 'Powerhouse' in support with CSVI aims at creating a house which will not only produce its own power, but will be able to generate excess power. The excess will be sold back to the grid or the community, facilitating earnings for the owner. With the slump not only restricted to rural areas, but also affecting the urban lot, the mass implementation can be detrimental in facilitating a change in the housing scene.
