DENICE BRAVE | I WANT MY RIGHTS BACK AND I THINK BUSINESS OWNERS SHOULD HAVE A SAY IF THERE PLACE IS SMOKING OR NOT. THE ONLY RULE SHOULD BE THAT EVERY PLACE HAS TO POST IF THEY ARE SMOKING OR NOT. THEN EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO MAKE THEIR OWN MINDS. THEN WE WILL ALL HAVE OUR CIVIAL RIGHTS BACK!!!!!

Dan | This law is stupid! This is like China!
dawn brooks | this government has no right to tell us what we can do with our business that we paid for with our money....it should be up to a business owner whether they allow smoking or not in their place of business.....PERIOD

Randy E Fowler | I think its totally wrong that the state can regulate what people do in private/members only clubs. My Legion and VFWs are all down 50% in business and the state doesnt give a rats ass

Anonymous | That's it--NO solid proof ,that maybe MORE people are dead from drunk- driving- booze- drinkers than smokers. As an American, I'm saddened by the Constitutional rights being taken away !!! And, yes, let's get REAL documentation on deaths caused by smoking!! The pharmaceutical companies ,of course, are sitting on the side-lines,---just WAiting for their record profits!!! Give the smokers the liberties they are entitled to--they should NOT be the ones to supply tax monies EVERY time the govt needs to "fill a void"!!
Anonymous | I don't go into bars & I don't mind at all not being able to smoke in eating establishments (THAT law is realistic) But STOP taking our rights away, again!! BTW Illinois will NEVER be smoke free--so lay OFF!!!! Think of a different way to get your tax money!!
jan burk | the govt needs to be coming down on the food industry--all the additives in most all of our food stuffs is REALLY scary--tell me WHY that is of no concern to our govt officials!!?? Nitrites, nitrates etc. etc etc give people cancer more often than smoking--everyone carries the cancer viruses--what triggers it ? Christepher Reeve's wife died of lung cancer & NEVER smoked--same as a friend of mine! Why do politicians have ALL the answers??
Michelle White | Let the business owners decide if they want smoking or not in the businesses that they have paid for. As a free American it is my "Choice" to walk into a smoking establishment. I have no issues with not smoking at my workplace at all. I just hope the customers don't mind me closing shop for my cigarette breaks. If my smoking while standing out the back door bothers them, well the store being locked up will a whole lot more. Enjoy the drop in business all over IL. We are already seeing it happen. How sad that in a time our economy is so bad you have decided to help businesses lose money or close doors. Let's see what you decide to raise taxes on next because those same businesses you helped close the doors on no longer pay YOU taxes.

Rhonda Bolden | ILLINOIS IS MISSIN OUT ON A LOT OF MONEY BY BANING SMOKING
TIM MURPHY | AS a property owner and small business owner the ban is killing my tavern business. we need some relief or this is going to kill the economy of illinois. An army of several smaller businesses add up in this economy and will make this a hudge economic impact. I agree that restruants and work place should be smoke free but taverns and smoking go together.

Anonymous | i have the right to smoke in a bar or a resturant with out the goverment telling me where i can and cant. i pay my taxes and everything u dont have this right!
Jess B |
Bruce W Neill Jr |
Jason Somers | This smoking ban is a misguided attempt to take yet more of our personal freedoms. If business owners choose to have a smoke free environment that is their business, but to legislate human behaviour by distorting facts and intruding on peoples rights by targeting bars and restaurants where smokers are the majority of the patrons is nothing but bad business!!!! I hope the neo-nazis who came up with this ridiculous violation of smokers rights (who are human beings with the supposed same rights as anyone else) can sleep at night. I would also like to add that taxing the hell out of cigarettes and other tobacco products does nothing but hurt consumers!!!!!
Jim Price | Veterans put their life on the line for this country. Now they say we can't even go into a VFW and enjoy a beer and a smoke with other vets? I say that's B.S!!!
Lynnette Tammen | I strongly agree with this petition! I have respect for those that do not smoke; however, I feel that no one has the respect for those of us that do smoke. I think the government and others have taken this issue too far! I would like to have some of my rights given back to me. For example, give me a safe and dry place to smoke. I would love to see more facts regarding this issue, as you are requesting in this petition. I do feel the public has been misinformed and that is unfair. I do feel that our rights have been taken away from us! If we keep allowing these kinds of laws to be passed, we will no longer have the freedoms that our forefathers fought so long and hard for. I want to be fair to non-smokers, but I want things to be fair for us smokers also. Thank you for standing up for our rights!

Decia Waters | I think if people don't want to work in a smoke filled enviroment they should look for a different job. I believe it should be the business owners right to decide if smoking should be allowed.
Jim Price |
| 699 | M. McDermott | I agree.
I really think they have gone overboard on the restrictions. I think No Smoking areas are enough.
I have always respected none smoking areas, as
most people do. |
