AnonymousI can't believe anyone came up with this absurd, inhumane policy that a High Court judge has already declared a violation of human rights! How can an asylum seeker who is forbidden to work be asked to pay for treatment?
Kate FotheringhamThe founding principles of the NHS provided free medical at the point of need. This is an important human right who should not be denied access to health care except where it can be PROVED that the SOLE purpose of coming to UK was to access free care. As a nurse working with vulnerable people I consider that the refusal of essential health care to vulnerable people braeches ethical codes as well as human rights. It also puts the health of the host population at risk by denying treatment for diseases such as TB and hepatitis to those who may suffer from these.

Matthew ClementsLet's not kick these people when they're down. Honestly, what kind of a country have we become?
Sr Ruth PercivalI work with Asylum Seekers, some of whom have been here for 9yrs. We find little real justice for them, the justice we could once have been proud about. To deny them to basic medical care is beyond belief. If this happened in another country we would be rightly apalled. It is being proposed here in the UK and that frightens me. GPs themselves are against it. I beg, do not let this happen thanking you Sr Ruth

Anna ChilversNHS care is absolutely vital for everyone, including asylum seekers. They have done nothing wrong (on the contrary, many of them have stood up for justice) and many do not even have £20 let alone £2000 to pay for childbirth!
