The Clackamas County Office of Sustainability, appointed by The Green Ribbon Committee, endorsed by the 2009 Clackamas County Commisioners, is a so called Governmental Agency operating under the guise of a "greener" Clackamas County. At the inception of operations, The Clackamas County Office of Sustainability received over a $1 million dollar grant from the Federal Government directly from the 2009 bailout, which was meant to strengthen the US economy by giving to Banks and businesses that were in trouble due to the recession. The "Office" spent our Local, State, and Federal tax dollars on remodeling the building they occupy to be more "green". The "Office" offers "free" classes to the community on how to go green, how to garden, how to weatherize your home, etc., all of which can be learned for free at local home improvement centers. Their mantra is to share information with other government agencies and local businesses on how to be greener. We cannot afford to support green ideology. The "Office" is currently funded by subsidy on your water bill, The Clackamas County General Fund, and sales within their own office. Our County needs road improvements, law enforcement, emergency personnel, and schools. The Office of Sustainability is another unnecessary agency spending our tax dollars in order to forward their "green agenda". Please sign the petition to abolish the Office of Sustainability Clackamas County and help our County to be a County free of crony capitalism.
