When we live in a society where it is acceptable to use your phone in public schools you would expect the same from your summer home. Right? Wrong, for as long as it has existed, the WHTT program has frowned upon the use of cellular phones. However, just recently this restriction has been revised, allowing for the use of phones in emergencies and in the evening to call our parents but what we all need to think is: Is the so-called "cell phone policy" really necessary? What the WHDC management fails to realize is the fact that the use of cell phones has many positive attributes also, such as inter-group communication (both camper-camper and camper-staff) and entertainment (such as games or iPod-like media) Another thing that management fails to realize is the fact that no matter how much you regulate it, people are still going to use their phones, whether to text their friends from home or to share their experiences on instagram. And then, when they get caught, they get punished quite harshly, for something as minor as a Facebook status update. So management, as you read this, please hear our plea of reconsideration as abolishment of the policy can statistically only lead to good. By signing this petition, you are pledging your agreement to the preceding text and support the removal of the cell phone policy.
