ABC radio plans to cut rural reporter numbers across Queensland, including Mackay and Lismore, and syndicate some daily Rural Report breakfast programs.
This move would be a blow to local industry and professionals dependent on the quality local reports picked up by having a local reporter. ABC has dedicated Rural Report listeners relying on local accuracy and timely news and market information.
The syndication of programs would neglect the diversity in climates, local production systems and commodities and other vast differences in farming across Queensland by trying to provide varying regions with the same news.
