We are asking tow co's, owners, drivers etc and repair shops/garages owners to sign this petition asking TN legislators to amend House Bill No. 3023. This bill requires tow co's & repair shops to notify Nashville within 3 business days of taking possession of a vehicle to verify ownership then notify owner/lien holder within 3 days after receiving info. from Nashville. We have met with Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey and he agreed to address this when Legislator is back in session in January. We ask that this law be amended to apply only to true abandoned vehicles. Other vehicles that have been towed due to wreck, breakdown, arrest, etc. the owner already knows where & who towed vehicle. Many times it takes ins. adjusters a week to look at vehicle. On these vehicles we ask that the old law apply that owners/lien holders be notified by 15 days if there has not already been contact from them. The new law puts small company's in a difficult position of having to hire someone to do extra paperwork on vehicles that normally get picked up within a week. Many company's are small and cannot realistically afford to do this. We appreciate all signatures and ask that you contact your legislator to encourage them to amend this bill. Thank you.
