James A. CoolidgeThere is much more proof that smallscale dredging is benificiald than there is that it is harmful.
Tom KitcharThis is a bad bill, and will needlessly destroy a very important industry (i.e.; small-scale mining and prospecting), and at the same time will do nothing to help fish. In fact, this bill will hurt fish as you will not have the benefits from suction dredge mining!
AnonymousVote no on AB 1032!
stanley clarksmall scale mining does not harm the fish spawning, but helps with opening up the gravels beds. the rivers also reshapes itself after each time the water gets high(floods). dont be fooled by scare tactice of a few groups that never saw a dredge operation.........thanks
William LloydWe all ready have enough restrictions on us to protect the fish.
scott m clarkIf this bill is passed the state will lose more monies!
Randolph J. NotleyI am a small scale prospector who "snipes" the river bottoms in a wetsuit. I hand remove bottom gravels in search of gold and I am constantly surrounded by trout who enjoy the insects and nutrients that I stir up from the gravels. I disagree with the notion that suction dredges cause damages to Trout habitat.
marty hensleyi live in motherlode and have seen fish make recovery from near extinction because miners have lossend dam silted riverbeds. i have also seen army corps of enginers spend 12,000,000 dollars to do what they could have gotten dredging fees for.

David E. DunhamWhat is the real agenda of AB 1032? Are the issues species survival and "clean" water? ----or just lock-down control of the remnant Americans who actually dare go the the Earth for independance outside the "norm." The real issues are control of the land and ALL the people---not just for the good of the majority, but for the security of their governance. The hot-button topics of the environment are being used to create conformance, not a better State of California. Dredgers are helping the streams and rivers that our dams have all but killed. The government has labeled rivers "Wild and Scenic" after killing them with dams. Now they would like to deflect responsibility away from over-control and blind management onto anyone out there who really witnesses the year-by-year effect of NOT ALLOWING turbidity to do its job---and drive those very individuals out by discrediting them. Muddy water is not the real pollution. Why does the Trinity River Task Force get 76-million dollars to rip up the river "creating" spawning grounds while the dredgers get negative publicity for doing the same thing for free? The inconsistencies are glaring; once again, precedents are being set to abbrogate personal rights and liberty for the "benefit" of government, not the people nor the environment. American Government was "for the people, by the people" but now government is moving more and more toward government for the government. I can't wait to see who really benefits from this so-called "clean-water" bill. The only place I've ever seen aquatic life thriving is in my last-year's tailings and the nursery establish by this year's temporary hole. This bill is just another, not so modern, method of CLAIM JUMPING. Sure, passing the bill with help make California into a "pretty" place where people stand in line for jobs, handouts, and tickets for everything and anything they would like to do---and are going to get taxed to oblivion while making the government larger and less effeciant---and more vulnerable to expertly lobbied domestic and FOREIGN interests. People are selling out their ties to the land for trinkets again. This bill and the "clean" water it stands for are not the most important result of this kind of management. Are we really going to continue to take more away from the citizens and give it to big business, multi-national corporations, and foreigners? It really appears so; guess who is going to "let" this law become a reality? We citizens are at fault; but this is only one small example of our real loss. Talk about native species being lost? Look at the history of the interaction of our government and Native Americans..."as long as the grass grows and the water flows" (or when your grandfather dies and you don't see any reason...or have forgotten what your rights and freedoms really were); then, we'll throw the treaty out, change the law to accomplish another inconvenient "truth." What will be next? There's a long list of ways to get Americans conformed. "Ask not for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee" America.
LARRY FLYNNPLEASE VETO THIS BILL. MY WIFE AND I DREDGE ON VACATION TWO OR THREE TIMES A YEAR AND WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE, THANKS THE FLYNN FAMILY.

AnonymousI oppose this bill. My rights as a tax paying small scale miner are being attacked.
margaret rathburnAs a miner I am so furious that this is going on again. Doesn't anyone realize that the gold dredgers do not harm their precious fish it helps feed them and helps make holes for them to spawn in. If this bill passes you won't believe the communities and families that will suffer and pay for some greenies that put fish and wildlife above humans. The heck with human livelyhood but let the sucker fish that have no contribution flurish. How idiotic !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bob Dunst
Diana Dunham-ScottI vigorously oppose this measure of faux environmentalism.
Steve WandtThis petition letter pretty well explains it all.

Galo R. ShepherdWe also help the local economy by spending a lot of money not only on materials and products used for mining but also for food and other items while pursuing this hobby. For example, my wife and I bought a new $26,000.00 camping trailer last year in California that we use for our prospecting trips. We also paid $124 for Oregon out of state fishing license this year while prospecting in Oregon. We spent three months up there this year and then came back through California and camped there for two weeks while heading back to Arizona. We have been doing this as a hobby for over thirty years and have spent a lot of money pursuing this recreation.

David M. AvinaIf you are going to let them do this then they need to put a stop to camping, building roads , hotels and resorts in the middle of nowhere, horseback riding , NASCAR, and every other sport that is "harmful" to the environment. Everybody just stay at home. please do not enjoy the land you pay taxes for . The land belongs to the people!!!!
cheryl clarknot a real understanding of the dredging issue. will not harm the fish sponging, this is more red tape from our worthless government officals who have never seen a dredge,

jason houleWe the people pay taxes to have rights to use public land. This may not be your hobby. But it is ours. Why do you have the right to take away something that does little to no harm? And benefits the enviroment by provideing shelter for fish, drinking pools for game. And remove mercury.

Anonymousfinding gold is what estiblished california, and gave its boost for the population today,,taking away from the small dredging guy is just another way to cut my freedom,,their are uncomplete reports that dont suport theory of the lobbyest,,dont alow what put california on the map..to be taken off the map,,keep the california dream alive and well
Doug JoergerThis Bill is just another attempt to take one more small piece of our rights and freedoms, putting a little more power in the wrong hands. THIS BILL MUST BE VETOED
Galvin Graham
Anna JonesThis needs to be vetoed, do not take my families heritage from us!
Scott ChiaraI am opposed to AB1032
Joe GonzalezWho's going to benefit from passing AB1032? To think that this will not have any negative residual effects is naive. The open-pit mining corporations will go full-steam ahead without a peep from any environmental groups or native americans. Will we suddenly stop using gold? Ridiculous. We need to simply manage our resources allowing the practice of gold mining using suction dredges - enforcing the rules and regulations that already exist.
