Name: Gareth Davey on Dec 11, 2006Comments: How many accidents does there need to be before action is taken. One set of traffic lights will cut accidents at the Wilberfoss turn off and prevent people 'dicing with death' just to get to and from work. The congestion issue must be tackled now rather than later. The 10 minute journey to York takes up to 1 hour most mornings and this problem is set to increase with massive expansion plans for York University and the surrounding areas in the immediate future.Flag

Name: Benjamin Rose on Dec 12, 2006Comments: I travel this road Monday to Friday and have done for the past three years - it is appaling; days are so hit and miss! Some days I leave at 07.00 and arrive at 08.20 or so. Other days I do not arrive until 09.45. It is unacceptable that it can take almost three hours to travel less than 40 miles.Flag

Name: Verity Stead on Dec 12, 2006Comments: I have been travelling on the A1079 Monday - Friday between Beverley and the A64 at 7am and 4pm. since September 2006. There hasn't yet been a day when I have not been slowed down by congestion. The number of lorries, cars and farm traffic which use this road is surely more than enough to warrant the development of longer stretches of dual carriageway. Installing more speed cameras will simply make more frustrated drivers.Flag

Name: Amanda Oxley on Dec 12, 2006Comments: As a daily commuter on the A1079 I welcome any improvements to assist traffic flow. I travel from Market Weighton and on occasions the traffic has backed up from the Grimston Bar roundabout as far as the Pocklington Gliding Club turnoff. Similarly, my homeward journey is equally stressful with conjection heading out of York. I am fortunate that my employers operate a flexi time scheme, despite setting off for work at the same time each morning my arrival time can fluctuate by up to 40 minutes depending on the conditions and traffic flow.Flag

Name: John Harrison on Dec 12, 2006Comments: I have been using this road every day for the last 4 1/2 years, during this time the volume of traffic has increased significantly. I am partially responsible, due to moving out to Wilberfoss. I commute to Wetherby each day, in 2002 it would take 40mins to travel, it now takeas at least 50mins sometimes longer. I often dread pulling onto the 1079 due to the fast continuous flow of traffic. We are considering relocating to avoid this raod as it appears to be getting worse.Flag

Name: Martin Wilburn on Dec 12, 2006Comments: The A1079, being single carriageway for the majority of its length, is woefully inadequate for the volume of traffic currently using it. I would like to see the road upgraded to dual carriageway as much as possible, or the re-instatement of the Beverley-York railway line. Something needs to be done; it is not realistic to try and pretend that the motor car was never invented. We should expect a road capable of accommodating 21st century traffic needs, or an integrated public transport service which will be of a sufficiently high standard that people would rather use it than their cars.Flag

Name: Liz Parker on Dec 12, 2006Comments: It takes me 3 hours per day (four days a week) to travel from Hull to York to work. Travelling out of peak traffic time the journey would be less than 2 hours! There is no alternative, by public transport it would take 3 hours EACH WAY. This is not acceptable in the 21st century!Flag

Name: James Cooper on Dec 13, 2006Comments: If a slip road was built to take traffic to the A64 (Leeds) before the Roundabout, would this not be a simple solution to cut pollution and congestion. Sometimes you can be over 3/4 hour getting into York which in its self causes lot of pollution. As Britain is to SAVE the Planet would the above go some way to doing it.Flag

Name: David Temperton on Dec 13, 2006Comments: I travel from Hull to York and back everyday and would welcome both a better road infrastructure and/or cheaper more reliable alternatives such as a decent rail network and better prices. £21 day return just makes it not viable to go by train and forces people onto the already over congested 1079.Flag

Name: Geoffrey Hitchen on Dec 13, 2006Comments: A road I journey on very frequently. I cover at least the same 14 mile stretch every day. Question:- Why are there no cats eyes marking the outer edges on both sides of carriageway The only cats eyes are in the middle of the road and at night drivers tend to use this as a reference point for there positioning, this results in a very very low margin of error that can cause collisions. The suggestion above would cause drivers at night to use the outer edge of their side of the carriageway as a reference point and make conditions at night a lot safer on the A1079.Flag

Name: Phil Young on Dec 13, 2006Comments: The traffic has steadily become unbareable over the last few years. The 20 miles journey from Market Weighton to the A64 regularly takes over an hour. Frequent crashes and inconsiderate farm vehicles just add to the congestion.Flag
