We, the undersigned Member Clubs of the National Historical Machinery Association Inc., wish to invoke our rights under Section 10(5) of the National Historical Machinery Association Inc. Constitution and call upon the National Historical Machinery Association Inc. Executive Committee to convene a Special General Meeting of the association.

Such meeting is to be convened by the Executive Committee within one month after the date on which this petition/request is sent to the address of the Association’s Secretary (refer to Section 10(7) of the National Historical Machinery Association Inc. Constitution).

This Special General Meeting, when convened, will be for the purpose of considering and, if thought appropriate, passing the following special resolution:

“That the Member Clubs of the National Historical Machinery Association Inc. move a vote of no confidence in the current Executive Committee of the Association and ask that the members of the Executive Committee stand down to allow a caretaker committee to be appointed.

Such committee is to be tasked with reviewing and, if appropriate, reversing policy decisions made by the outgoing Executive Committee.

Policy decisions to be reviewed include, but are not limited to:

  1. The removal of the “affiliate only” status for Clubs who hold their own insurance.
  2. The refusal of non-NHMA club participation at NHMA organised/run events.
  3. The apparent refusal of the right of NHMA Member clubs from attending and participating in non-NHMA club organised/run events.

Further to this, the incoming caretaker committee will be charged with the responsibility of:

  1. Reviewing the insurance policies currently held by the organisation.
  2. Obtaining quotations from no less than three other insurance brokers.
  3. Presenting these quotations along with the findings of their review of current policies to the next Annual General Meeting, where the Member Clubs will be given the opportunity to decide which company/broker will provide the best insurance coverage for members.”

Time for a broom to be put through the executive. Change the ridiculous policy if banning non NHMA members from exhibiting or start losing a lot of members. Not rocket science.

If you are a NHMA Member Club and believe that recent policy decisions made by the current NHMA Executive Committee have placed the Australian machinery restoration and preservation movement at risk, we ask that you consider signing this petition. The above resolution seeks to reunify the movement, whilst providing a review of the recent policy decisions and current insurance scheme which has created confusion and dissatisfaction amongst the membership of the National Historical Machinery Association Inc. It also seeks to replace the current NHMA Executive Committee with a Caretaker Committee that will preside over the organisation as the abovementioned reviews take place. The removal of the current NHMA Executive Committee was viewed as being an essential component of the resolution in light of Member Clubs expressing their concerns in regard to: - The lack of communication received from the NHMA Executive. - The failure of the NHMA Executive to be open and transparent in all its dealings. - The failure of the NHMA Executive in providing full disclosure to its Member Clubs with regard to insurance details (i.e. the failure to provide Member Clubs with full insurance documentation/policies). - The lack of consultation held with Member Clubs when decisions are made. - The poor decisions made by the NHMA Executive . . . decisions which are not in the best interests of the Member Clubs of the NHMA or of the movement as a whole. - The uncertainty and confusion created by these decisions. Please note that for this petition to be successful we require 5% of the total number of NHMA Member Clubs to sign this petition.** ** This petition can only be signed by an authorised office bearer of an NHMA Member Club (i.e. President/Secretary). An authority to sign this petition should be sought via resolution at a meeting of the relevant Club. To be successful in passing the abovementioned resolution,
