Seeing these 268 signatures turn into actual policy feels surreal and I am deeply thankful for your help in securing this victory. We need to stay watchful to ensure the process remains fair as …

We  believe that Scottish Parliament should legislate as part of the Community Empowerment and Renewal Bill  in favour of A RIGHT TO GROW FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS  as follows:

Underused Public land and assets in public ownership of Local authorities, public agencies (such as Forestry Commission, Scottish Natural Heritage, Scottish Government, Crown Estates) should be available for the use of local communities as a right. There should be a presumption in favour of community use of unused public land, unless the owner can show good reason why not, in a timely manner.

Watching these numbers climb reminds me of the small patch of dirt my neighbors and I fought years to turn into a garden. We are almost at two hundred and fifty signatures and that milestone will force them to take our demand seriously when we walk into the parliamentary office. Please keep pushing this forward because our communities deserve a legal right to cultivate the land sitting empty in our neighborhoods.

My own backyard remains a barren patch of public dirt that could be feeding our neighborhood right now. We need just a few more signatures to hit our target before the cutoff so please send this link to your neighbors today. Let us show the parliament that our communities are ready to put this dormant land to work.

About time we actually started using all these empty lots. My street is just full of weeds and rubbish right now.

This would be amazing for the kids in our neighborhood. We have zero green space.

The council just leaves everything to rot. Let the local people take over the land if they have a plan for it.

We need this for our community garden project. The red tape is just ridiculous right now.

Great idea. Why let land sit there doing nothing when people could be growing food?
