Beverly Cleary's 100th birthday is on April 12, 2016. Her first book, "Henry Huggins" was released in 1950. Her last book, "Ramona's World" was released in 1999. She lives in a retirement community in California and Jenna Bush interviewed her in March 2016, revealing a woman who is still humorous and witty.

Times have changed, but while Ms. Cleary is still here on Earth, and while her books continue to provide entertainment and value to each new generation, there is no reason that HarperCollins shouldn't make every effort to entice her to write one more book.

A new book by Ms. Cleary would go down in history. How many authors, let alone any of her stature, have accomplished such a feat? "Written by Beverly Cleary at Age 100" would, from a life point of view, be a miracle and a joy. From a selling point of view, it would undoubtedly be printed on those seals that publishers like to stick on new books- and it would be an unmistakable one.

It doesn't matter what character she returns to- or whether she chooses to create something new. Whatever comes from her heart and brain would be appreciated by those who have been fans for years, as well as her many young, new fans.

Please support this petition so that HarperCollins will do everything in their power (which might include an extraordinary donation to a cause of her choice) to create a new deal with Beverly Cleary for just ONE MORE.
