Weyco Inc. in Michigan fired 4 employees because they smoke. Smoking is not illegal. The company decided to enforce a "no smoking" at work, and then decided that it should extend into the private lives of their employees. We have no problem with a "no smoking" rule at the site of business, but what goes on off their property is none of their business.
We want them to re-hire these employees and pay their healthcare benefits just as they would pay for an overweight person or a handicapped person. |
